The "everyone is losing to Saban" rationale... and beyond.

Most of the media and a huge contingent of TD posters have repeatedly trotted out the argument that Bama owning LSU is simply a fact of life. In other words, we are all just going to have to wait until Saban leaves the division before a different paradigm emerges.

It is cowardice. We won't ever know whether or not we could have changed it because we are too limpwristed to take a risk. If we tried something new, it might fail. Apparently the possibility of (more) failure is just too daunting for most. It's not just about Bama. It's about a philosophy that doesn't compete with the best of the best anymore.

Frankly, I'm embarrassed that that is who we are; a team, program, and fanbase that does not believe it can be the best despite being the most important NFL factory in the nation.

Accomplishing anything great requires risk. I'm disappointed that such a prospect is not appetizing to most. See you again at 9-3 next year. Hey, that's not such a bad record, right?

NEGATIGER OUT.

Please give us a list of those who regularly beat Saban/Bama. Other than Ole Miss these last 2 years, and...?

We could possibly beat Bama every now and then if things fall our way, but to have a better team than Bama we would need better players.

I can think of 4 coaches that if they were at LSU could probably pull in as good of recruiting classes as Saban.

They are Urban Meyer, Jim Harbough, Pete Carrol, and Bill Belechek. Since there is no chance we are going to get any of those guys I think we just need to do the best we can.

No one. They are the most dominant program in the country. I would like to try to dethrone them while we have the opportunity.

But again, it isn't just Saban. It's the boneheaded losses to Arkansas, lack of discipline, and so much more.

Amen.

Les Miles and his cult of fans are the stench that is keeping LSU from competing for and winning championships and beating Bama.

I'm tired of Les losing just enough to be on the hot seat but winning just enough to save his job. Drives me fricking nuts.

The thing is... Is that it has nothing to do with Bama. If we were just losing to Bama I would be fine with that. But we are 5-7 in the SECW the last 2 years. Take away Bama, and we are still 5-5 vs SECW opponents. That's not good.

Les isn't equipped to beat a Saban team. He wants to pound right up the middle through bamas strengths. He knows this (hopefully) yet still goes in every year with the same game plan and no plan B. Ole Miss has had two consecutive QBs that can throw. This allows them to spread Bama out. May not work every time but they have a fighting chance. We'd need an O line that is all going to the NFL to pound it right up the middle with success against them. Then there's the whole part where we can't field a competent passing game anymore. We play Bama every year. First order of business in spring should be to get a passing game together. Yet LSU still doesn't have one. I for one don't want to wait until Saban retires in order to have a hope for a sec title. Actually, hoping he takes one of the pro openings during the off season so I can enjoy 2016 season.

I am a Tiger fan, I think we will beat BAMA again, soon.

Your defeatist attitude doesn't allow for improvement of our team.

Keeping Les doesn't concede anything
Your hate for him blues the lines between irrational and rational

If we tried something different, the Bama situation might take care of itself. This is sports. It's the one area of life where we encourage high stakes risk-taking.

Isn't the goal to be the best?

I actually love Les. But I totally dispute that we concede nothing by keeping him. We will get the same philosophy next year. Just like we always do.

Remember the Nebraska/OU Switzer/Osborne era? Switzer owned Tom Osborne for years. Had NU shitcanned Osborne for losing to OU then they would have never had the Nebraska dynasty of the 1990s. Beating Bama will be easier once Saban has moved on.

Coaches that got embarrassed this weekend

McElwain
Mora
Harbaugh
Gundy

All will prob end with three or more losses, they aren't mediocre, shite the rant wanted to hire Mora or Gundy for Gods sake.

All have talented teams with good deep recruiting.

Nine play in the SEC West, Should we fire them all?

The quality of the product of LSU Football has been subpar in the exact same manner in the exact positions the past 11 years. People really just want to see a product that is better in those areas I think. I don't think it has anything to do with opponents. The Harris performance versus Florida was the best performance at that position for many years in a big game and it has not been close in all games that followed. Its an area the current coach just has not been able to provide anything resembling consistency or competency.

Do you not understand that LSU is one of the few schools who CAN and SHOULD compete with Bama on a yearly basis? Are we going to beat them every year? No. But 5 loses in a row is pathetic. There is no excuse for that.
