We paid a guy to rebuild the program. He is doing that. Be patient

If Hilton makes that catch at the end of the game the whole attitude of the fan base would be different.

Only to those who chose to bury their heads in the sand and ignore reality. LSU didn't stop Arkansas once from scoring in the second half. Luckily the offense was clicking and Arkansas had foolishly burned all of their TOs well before the 5:00 mark in the 4th quarter. That allows LSU to keep the ball away from Arkansas...which was the ONLY reason they didn't score again. If Arkansas would have been able to get the ball back in that game the outcome could have been very different.

Even if Hilton makes that catch, there would still be GRAVE concerns with the defense going forward because by that point Ole Miss had already scored 55 points and gained the most yards against LSU in the 130 year history of LSU football.

The fact that LSU has been so good on offense is what leads to the frustration. The defense doesn't have to be great to win games. Maybe not even good. Just ok. Or to put things in perspective, simply as good as teams like Maryland, NC State, West Virginia, Michigan St. Yet, despite having such a good offense, it is being wasted because the staff can't find a way to get the defense to achieve perhaps one of the lowest bars for success in recent LSU history.

It’s funny you thought anyone would be on board with you comparing a Jayden Daniels offense to Burrow, even it’s the stats say you are right.

Offense could finish averaging 50 points per game and some people will still think Nuss is better.

Some LSU fans think JD can’t play in the NFL even though he will be at worst a third round pick and we see guys like Zach Wilson, Justin Fields, Desmond Ridder, Josh Dobbs, Bailey Zappe, the guy in Vegas, and 7th round pick Brock Purdy starting games. Didn’t Malik Willis start a game or two?

I knew our defense was bad before the season started. I listened to BK at SEC media days. He told us it was bad. All you had to do was listen

Exactly. He alluded to it in answer to one of the first questions he was asked.

It was clearly a concern all along but all anyone here wanted to talk about was if Nuss was going to take over for Daniels. Stupid.

Quite easy what’s going:

1. This team doesn’t have a DL coach

2. The DBs we got in the portal this year haven’t been as good as last years.

Well the offense gets tons of possessions because the defense lets opponents score at will. I’m kind of kidding, but I personally don’t care how he does it, offense, defense, special teams. I just want them to win games and consistently be in the title hunt.

Posts like these remind me of the turnaround time here on the Rant before logical discussions can happen again after a loss.

The answer is 4 days.

This place is unbearable and emotionally illogical the first 72 hours after a loss

Prime assembled an entire portal team and it still sucks arse

He beat the team that played in championship last year and lost to two highly ranked teams. Not bad for a one win team last year.

All some people can understand are wins & losses. They're either very shallow or very inexperienced when it comes to evaluating football.
LSU has yet to play the best defenses on their schedule. If they keep the pace they have been at they’ll get their praise.

The defense is a problem, sure. But give the man credit too if you're gonna sling blame around. Imagine how much shite we'd be in if we didn't have this offense.

So, you acknowledge it's an overall shite Show BUT you like the highlights?

Pretzel logic.

Intelligent people are giving Kelly a lot of credit. When he came to LSU, the program was in total disarray; there were only 35 scholarship players on the team after the bowl game against Kansas State. LSU won the SEC West. We knew that the offense would be very good this year, but I think the offense has exceeded all expectations. The offensive side of the ball has basically been reconstructed. The defense has been very bad and is a work in progress. The vast majority of the players that are seeing meaningful time were not even recruited by LSU. Kelly has addressed the secondary and linebacker positions via recruiting, but significant improvement could be two years away. Defensive line is a major concern, particularly the interior. To date, we have not recruited well in this area and the portal must be used again to get players.

The number keeps going down, I heard he walks uphill in the snow both ways to get to LSU each day too.

“ Exactly. We have a top 5 coach in the nation and these retards are trying to run him off.”

You have a “top five” coach and coaching staff who can’t recruit in the top 10. Think about that.

His job is to get wins, not offensive records. He does rightly get credit for the offensive performance. He also rightly gets blame for the defense. He is the head coach. If he was the OC, you might have a point, but you don't.

The defense has been embarrassing, and he should be embarrassed.

If you don't give O any credit for 19', why would you give BK credit for this offense? They both deserve some level of credit and criticism.

Think about it: LSU has had both starting corners be transfers for the last 2 seasons because there weren't any on the roster. THAT is where this program was at when Kelly took over.
