They do yoga offseason which is designed to promote elasticity, then they go full on aggressive first few weeks of fall and get injured because the ligaments, tendons, muscles surrounding the joints are loose, when they should be tightly wound to support vigorous speed and torque.
if you have great thoracic mobility, you decrease strain on the shoulder. A body that is properly mobile through every joint is less likely to be injured.
You can decide to not believe that but that would just make you ignorant

Injuries happen. There isn't a body on this earth that is perfect. Football is a sport where you put the body to extreme tests of power and endurance. It's not really a question of why, more like when.

I get that it's the nature of the beast since you have men with freakish size and speed flying around competing.
Even though I may sound like an idiot, I'm only trying to uncover what could possibly lessen the amount of these injuries. I played soccer from 5 years old through high school, was the starting place kicker, punter, and kickoff specialist soph, junior, and senior seasons, then played the same position semi-pro football a few years. We didn't have a lot of non-contact knee injuries in soccer. I'm wondering if more footwork drills before full pads would help with the injuries.

What do you think the first few days of camp are?
The weeks leading up to it are tons of footwork, agility, and acceleration drills.

LSU has teams of specialists devoting their professions to researching, preventing, and unfortunately, rehabilitating injuries.
Trainers, orthopedic surgeons, strength and conditioning professionals, therapists, heck even chiropractic. Let's just leave it to thrm and not our experiences in youth sports.

I've heard Moffit talking about the players doing yoga as part of their schedule. How is this beneficial? I'm not a PT but even I can understand that power and limber contradict each other.
You think yoga is in any way bad for our players?

Not bad for karma, but not good for building mean chiseled machines.
