Stewart Mandel's Observation of LSU's QB situation

Took him 8 weeks to opine and when he did...he missed it by a mile.

So if Saban/Brown/Meyer went 3 years without a decent QB, you'd lay that all on the players? Give me a break.

The QB's DO NOT have adequate coaching to grow in the Miles/Crowton "Civil War" offensive system.

We simply DON'T KNOW if JL can take this team to the next level because he hasn't been given the chance to run the team in 2010 for an entire game from start to finish over multiple S.E.C. games. (2008 Freshman year and La.Tech in 2009 don't count) He needs multiple games as the full time QB before a final verdict is rendered.

Wanna keep Milesy, then it's ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE to hire an OC with the same philosphy that wants to run the same stuff he does. They HAVE to be on the same page. LM and GC AREN'T. This needs to happen before before things will even begin to get better offensively.

An experienced veteran OL coach, a dedicated QB coach and a triple patty Mettenberger fully dressed with all the toppings would also help the offensive starvation.........

Who is responsible for putting us in a position of having two quarterbacks who "can't get it done"? Who recruits? Who assesses talent? Who instructs and develops?

The coaches. That's who.

If we are in a hopeless QB quandary, they are clearly to blame.

We've had some bad luck with getting and keeping good QB's

you could say made our own luck in not developing, identifying, or retaining QB talent.

the situation is what it is.

Lee could benefit from Offensive Line play that gives him some time back there.

+1 he had better protection against Florida and he did well, for some reason our OL did not do a good enough job on Saturday, if they would have then i think Jl would have had time to make his throws. I still think that with JL in the game it gives LSU a better chance to win the game.

How can someone even say Shep is a QB as he has never even attempted a pass in a college game. I watched the HS underarmor game and he didn't look like some great QB there either. The word on the street is he didn't have the mind to play QB and that is why he got switched.

Miles was very unlucky to end up with having to kick off RP and Z. Lee getting paid enormously over slot. We can all say he should have been better, but sometimes teams struggle to find a decent QB.

Our QBs would also look a lot better if the other offensive players would execute and Crowton had better playcalling. We have many other issues other than just QB.

I was more disappointed in the interior OL and WRs on Saturday to be honest.

there are probably zero fans who know what is going on between miles and crowton, much less that they aren't on the same page.

So why the hell rotate them on series instead of downs. In obvious passing situations why not bring in Lee even if its JJ's "series"?

:kige: It's not like we are unpredictable. Might as well put the right personnel in on any given play, like switching running backs. Switching them each series isn't letting them get into a rhythm anyway.

Just ask Florida what they think about their QB situation. No, No, don't do that, the Gator Fans are in a major depression having to watch Cam Newton every Saturday.

My neighbors in Tampa are MAJOR UF alumni/Gator Boosters. They said they were happy to see Cam Newton go because they had Tebow. Now they call Newton a "traitor". lol UF can't seem to look beyond the current season. LSU is smart going after Mettenberger for 2011. JJ and J. Lee need to enjoy their playing time the rest of this year. After next spring they'll be carrying clipboards and wearing headsets during the games.

Really?

Yes, really. It's very obvious to an impartial observer.

This just in: Les Miles knows more football than those on the RANT.

You need to get your head out of Mile's lap.

Miles is barely coherent, yet he is playing 2 quarterbacks for the entire year because he knows when we play Auburn the QB with the overwhelmingly better stats isn't going to be successful because of our poor O-line.

Miles has been starting Jefferson all year because he will need him when we play Auburn. Yeah, OK.

Instead of shoring up our O-line and developing a strategy to compete with Auburn, he rotates QB's all year and that is his "genius."

Instead of trying to defend the indefensible, just admit the guy (Miles) ain't that bright and move on. The most logical and easiest answer is usually the correct one.

Tiger fans should be in major depression for letting Darron Thomas go to Oregon and putting up big numbers. A player that we had in our palms and then he got wind of "athlete" and left. One of the many Miles frick ups at LSU when it comes to OL/QB recruiting.
