And yes, I stand constantly during a game. I also scream and yell a lot, especially when we're on defense. It's a sad day when some of our "fans" think of this as unacceptable behavior in Death Valley.

It's not unacceptable to stand at times during a game and is actually expected: kickoffs, big third or fourth down plays, after a score, etc. What is unacceptalbe is interfering with someone else's ability to see the game. Not everyone sitting has come to a "social Event". Not everyone standing is a "true fan who is emotional about LSU football. Be a fan but be courteous to those about you. OBTW there wouldn't be near the noise in Tiger Stadium without the "sitters" there also

Piss on that. If I see a running back bust through the line with an open field in front of him or the qb connect with a wide open receiver with a shot to score, my arse is standing up. I'm not waiting for him to score to celebrate.

There is nothing wrong with that and I would also but every play does not develop as such. Do not stand on every play or jump up at every snap of the ball. Big situations and big plays are great, just don't stand 24/7

You should have told them to sit down.

bullshite.
If you really beleive this then you are not really contributing to the yelling because standing upright frees your gut to throat passages and allows for ultimate yelling.

Get off your arse and jam.

I hope you at least stand when the real fans are spelling out T I G E R S!

Someone else said they stand at home.
I was standing in my living room when Trindon ran back the kick to answer McFarland's 90 yard run a couple of years ago. It wasn't a luck thing, I just was too nervous to sit.
The whole time LSU is on defense I stand.

You don't have to be a nut like me standing in my living room but just sitting there is not enough when you are at the game.

Reread the OP. This is the topic of the complaint.

A sitter bothers no one.
I beg to differ, I got a sitter behind me who bothers me the ENTIRE GAME with her assine bs including complaining about people standing, complaining about the way people cheer (too negative or too harsh), blabbing about the plays but getting the call wrong, its like sitting in front of Hawthorne, she never knows who is really on the field she is just yelling out random names of players she thinks are out there.
However, I let it be, I let it go, we are all there to have fun - so I let her be herself, I don't tell her anything, but I go about being myself as well, and if that means standing, I stand.

Although I totally disagree with anyone sitting at an LSU football game, I am willing to compromise.

If someone behinds me asks me in a polite manner and acknowledges that he is ok with me standing when something exciting happens or when we are 3rd down on defense, I will try my best to stand only in big moments.

That said, if someone is a jerk about it and randomly yells "down in front" as opposed to maturely talking to me about it, then plan on seeing the back of my shoulders and arse the rest of the game, because I can hold a grudge with the best of them and likely won't take a seat for the duration of the game.

It's all about your approach. Be an arse, and expect to see my arse the rest of the game.

it is called death valley for a reason, this is not the ballet. i went to a alabama game at alabama and was amazed that people sat down the whole time there. even with the close game they just sat in the seats like church.

Went to both the Tigers and Saints game this weekend. I don't mind someone in front of me standing - if they stand up then I stand up.
The thing that pissed me off was at both games when a major play was getting ready to happen (i.e. Saints on the 5 yard line getting ready to score) and people decide it is time to go to the concession stand and then block my view as I am trying to let them pass and I miss the play. I mean "Are you here to watch the game or what"?? I just did not get it - it was like they were not even aware of what was going on on the field.

There is this thing called courtesy, which seems to be getting more rare by the year. Yes, some of us do have physical limitations, and as some of you get older you might join us. Then and only then will you understand. Nothing wrong with standing for kickoff. Nothing wrong with standing for a touchdown. Nothing wrong with getting excited. Just keep the folks behind you in mind. Again, the term is courtesy.

By telling me to sit down, you are interferring with my ability to see the game. End thread.

This is true too. I am one for standing up as much as possible during the game. I stand in my house when watching an away game. But I will always check if there's a kid or a really old person directly behind me at the beginning of the game. I will also ask them if I'm getting in their way. If I am I will try to sit on the edge of my seat and only leap out when a big play happens on O or D.

But this goes both ways. The ones sitting need to ask politely and understand some just have more energy than others.

At the Peach Bowl in 2005 a family behind my group starting throwing ice at us in the 1st quarter after screaming sit down only once at us. Their rudeness only made us want to stand longer, but luckily that stadium cleared out quickly so we could move up and out of their way.

I think it is pretty clear that we should take our cues on when to sit/stand/cheer/clap/yell/jump/discuss the play/shout at the refs from lsuoldschool. LSU should seriously consider dedicating a camera and part of the jumbotron to him so we can make we are following his lead.

I understand and respect this, and my point is ... as long as you are polite, respectful and genuine when you request those in front of you sit down, then to me there won't be an issue.

But when those behind me come at me with the approach that "they are entitled to a view of the game and I have no choice but to sit" you're certainly going to run into problems trying to get me to sit, I can promise you that.

Standing during defense and special teams should be encouraged.

During offensive plays, sitting on hands should be encouraged.
