Will he play some as a LB in some of Coach Chavis' new defensive schemes?
its been said numerous times that he is starting at FS.

I wouldn't call them exceptions. Its been the norm.

I meant that we have had some 280+ DEs that succeeded in our defense. Marcus Spears, Marquise Hill, and Tyson Jackson come to mind. However, I don't think any of them was an elite pass rusher. My hope is that Chavis will opt for lighter, faster ends to beef up the pass rush or just increase our overall speed.

Colt wtf? this is 2 days in a row u have said something retarded. mccray has no talent? last year he was our best safety. yes he sucks at nickel back but at safety he played very well. and brooks ran with the ones most of the spring and will nore then likely start. i wasnt at the sg but ill take ur word for it that hatcher started, but almost the whole spring brooks ran with the ones and looked best there according to the reports i saw.

777, for a top program like LSU, I don't think McCray is anything more than a low level starter. He's more like a Miss St level type starter, IMO. I will admit that he's a heady player, but there's nothing else about his game that is real quality IMO.

I know, what I say maybe should be frowned upon after my episode yesterday.

FYI, I love Brooks. I just wish he wasn't 180lbs, or whatever he is. If he was 200lbs, he'd be amazing. Kid is incredibly explosive for a guy his size.

I actually would agree with everything u said. just the way u put it made me go wtf? what happened to that guy, he used to be a great poster. lol i see what ur saying now though and i agree. i think mccray is a great backuo and situational starter but nothing more. i actually wouldnt mind seeing him play lb in 5wr empty sets and even some 4wr sets depending on down and distance. as far as brooks goes, i agree wish he was bigger but i would rather have speed back there and give up some size then go through what we went through last year.

I also hope Brooks starts at SS

Nope, Hatcher was the starting SS next to CJ in the spring game.
Trust me, this is a good problem to have. Both of these guys are going to be awesome back there. I would say it's a toss up to say who is better.

My guess is they split the snaps pretty closely. Chavis said that he'll play as many guys who deserve to play (a refreshing change, by the way).

Brooks is probably the more dynamic guy, but he may be best splitting snaps anyway due to his size. Also due to the fact that he's such a maniac on kick coverage.

You think Hatcher is as good as Brooks ATL? Honestly I don't really know, but everything I've heard of Brooks since he came here from Irving MacArthur is off the charts. All I read about during the spring was him blowing up. If he is as good, then you are right. I am loyal to LSU, not one particular player, so whoever gives us the best chance to win is who I want to start!

Chavis, thankfully, is smart enough to see that McCray has no talent.

WTF??? McCray has no talent??? It's called "playing out of position". He was at the nickel for awhile covering guys like Harvin. Then he gets moved back to safety and looked pretty good. I think he would be a really good OLB/SS combo back, but Brooks is definitely a good player at Safety.

McCray is neither a big hitter nor a great athlete. Chavis had him working second team for a reason.

Brooks and Chad Jones are your starting safeties, Peterson at one corner and Jai and Hawkins will both see time at the other corner. Riley, Cutrerra and Coleman are your starting LB's. Pep And Rahim at DE. and Nevis And Alexander at tackle.
