My son saw Eli Manning and JJ do the same drill, JJ beat him 60 - 4. Wow that is as easy to type as I thought.

and I have an uncle that was a 2 time all-pro at fullback...does that make my opinion better?

....probably...does anyone care to hear it? No.

Thanks for sharing. Props to your kid. Obviously some of the posters do not have any kids because if they did they would understand why you shared.

Gonna be a looooooooong season

Don't pass up any opportunity to beat yourself up!

The kid may be a great talent. Perhaps a future LSU recruit!

He may have moved the numbers a little closer .. to impress his old man

Either way let the story be about the kid having fun at the camp. Why dump on the story!

from a poster who worked the camp (clair from tf)

quote:

1. Russell Shepard was the best receiver there ... hands-down. He and Jefferson hooked up on several long flies and their timing on their slants and hooks was much better than the timing of the random QBs and WRs who had never thrown to one another before.

2. Both Shepard and Jordan Jefferson were sponges. When they weren't warming out or throwing at the Air it Out competition, they were hanging out with either Peyton or Eli.

Was good to see that they were having less fun than the others -- all business.

Hope it translates into good things in the fall.

Here's a photo I took. Enjoy.

quote:

Welp, since BHelm asked:

1. Taylor Potts from TTech won the skills contest. I don't think he missed a throw the entire event. Very impressive.

2. Alabama fans have no lives. There were a ton of people from Alabama who drove in from Tuscaloosa to watch Greg McElroy throw.

3. The Simms kid at Tennessee has a CANNON. Like 100 mph Roger Clemens-like cannon.

4. Andrew Luck was the best overall passer there.

5. Shepard gets along with probably everyone on earth.

6. Jefferson hit the 10-yard target easily, hit the 20 yard target easily. Just airmailed [grazed it] the 30-yard target. Lots of oo'ing and ah'ing from the fans as he threw.

Like I said above, the warmup passing tree from Jefferson to Shepard was fun to watch. It seemed like no matter how hard or far Jefferson put it, Shepard found a way to get under it and bring it in.

quote:

"How does JJ's arm strength compare to the rest of the group?"

good, strong arm. probably the upper tier of the entire class.

Simms had the strongest arm there, easily.

I was very impressed by that kid.

quote:

He [Jarvis Landry] was there -- was wearing some LSU shorts.

I do. In a contest like that, anybody can get lucky. Hell, a CEO beat Jordan in a shooting contest one time if I remember correctly.

That said, Jefferson better turn it on this year or he and Crowton need to GTFO.

ETA: No doubt a teenage kid padded the numbers a bit to impress his old man.

So because someone says something that you believe cant possibly happen, they must be lying? Yeah, sucks to have your mindset.

To the OP, congrats on having a talented kid. Brag all you want!

FWIW, my son is only going into 9th grade. It's just a silly game, apparently common among QB's, as I have a friend who played Div I ball, and he did the same drill w/ my kid in my back yard a few weeks ago.

I wasn't dogging JJ, just telling a story.

Funny thing is, although he threw 23 TD's in 8th grade season, the varsity coaches at our 5A school, just asked him to "play up" next year with varsity... at LINEBACKER!

I still think he's a QB, but we're "team players" and he will do what is asked of him.

Also, he said Cooper was the coolest of the bunch.

He said Eli was "just sort of there" and Peyton was kind of a prick.

As for the rest of you, jam it in your Azz.

I went to Nicholls where the camp is held and I have heard stories about their female slaying adventures....let's just say it's closer to 100 than 75
