Who on that list comes from the Billy Donovan coaching tree?

I personally like Beard and Pitino because I believe in lineage (Beard - Bob Knight, Pitino - Daddy Pitino). I believe Prohm is a natural talent at this. If he can win at Murray State he can recruit eskimos to Arizona.

It would make a lot of sense for both parties. Of course, Prohm would be a good "fit", which clearly is a joke of a concept for Alleva.

I would love to think LSU has a lot to offer some pretty well established coaches. But knowing they have the Keystone Cops running the search gives me no faith whatsoever that LSU will be bold in their search to improve the basketball program.

I think they will hire Eric Musselman because he wants the job. He'll come here, do some decent things, and be out of here before year 4.

I did not see any but there are probably some out there. Donovan is from the Pitino tree FWIW.

Love him, but he has leverage play written all over him. The only connection I can discern is "was physically located in the same city as Alleva at one time."

Richard Pitino

I really believe if his last name was Gonzales he wouldn't even be on the radar.

Buzz Williams

A lot of respect for his coaching acumen. Not sure why no one can build a winner in Blacksburg. Wondering if that is what Baton Rouge is turning into.

Tom Crean

Has need golden parachute written all over him. Better than what we had, but an abysmal conference record and an inability to consistently win at a traditional power are huge flags.

Rick Stansbury

Would be an enormous disappointment. You want a guy whose only strength is recruiting and weak on the bench? You just had him. How'd that work out?

I'm not banging on the job he did this year. Just a one year performance isn't always a great predictor. His other seasons just aren't heavy on achievements. Hell, Bruce Pearl was SEC coach of the year twice and is struggling to build a winner on the plains.

Absolutely. While I know Alleva thinks the concept of "fit" is stupid, Brey doesn't strike me as a great fit for LSU. He's a career Northeast guy. His team at ND is largely made up of northeast players. No doubt he can coach, I just don't know if he could recruit the area.

Buzz would be a homerun hire here. VT is in a tough spot in the ACC. Texas guy with Texas recruiting contacts. Brought Jimmy Butler and Wesley Matthews up to Marquette from TX. Also good at hitting the JC circuit. May be intrigued by the LSU job. Joe would have to pay him though, so scratch him off the list.

Would be further confirmation that Joe Alleva has no idea what he is doing. Joe Alleva, pushing LSU to irrelevancy one coaching hire at a time.

I'm sure this has already been answered, but what is the connection with Brey? Why would he leave ND to come here?

As far as I can tell, the connection is doesn't make a ton, was at Duke while Alleva let Coach K run things. My prediction is Brey almost doubles his salary and we get cucked.
