Way to completely dance around the point. Gene Chizik won a national title, got fired after going 3-9 two years later. You think Auburn fans were any better? They were worse. As it should have been.

Look, I hope we have the #1 defense in college football and our offense scores 49 points a game. I'm just saying fellas, ill believe it when I see it....

Your auburn comparison sucks. Lsu is nowhere near 3-9 and our fans are worse.

I know a few. Honestly I feel our fans are much worse. Alabama fans are annoying and cocky at times, but deservedly so. LSU fans are just irrational. Actually I take that back. It's really just on tigerdroppings. Most fans that I know and talk LSU sports with are pretty reasonable. I don't even get on here after losses most of the time. It never gets old to see all the excuses we have when we lose games like blaming the refs.

You knew any of these Alabama fans pre-Saban? During the Shula years? Every school has these fans and even though I hate the hire I hope he does just as good as you think he will. You're assessment is way off base. Ask Florida fans after Urban left. I think we are just a couple of pieces away from being a contender year in and year out. They are just some important pieces

What point did I dance around? You made comparisons to 2 of the greatest coaches of all time so there wasn't much to say to that. You also insinuated that those schools got their coaches because the fans on their respective teams' forums called for their heads which wasn't even true. Now you're comparing us to Auburn and Gene Chizik?? Just throwing out ideas until one sticks? I'm so glad you are involved in this thread, because you're exactly the type of fan I have been referring to.

you either are 1) not a huge fan or 2) do not pay a lot for season tickets, or 3) get tickets through work or your network or 4) have a ton of disposable income (or is rich), so your don't have much concern about how your LSU monies on TAF/coaches/etc are spent.

Is not hard to understand. Negativity is what allows them to divorce themselves from any sort of failure, but reap the feelings that come with success. Being pessimistic gives them a pass. Instead of saying "well this sucks," they get to act superior and say I told you so. When things work out though, they don't have to do a fricking thing but enjoy it.

You said LSU fans should jump on Alabama or Ohio States bandwagon, I only pointed out that they were only at that point once they made coaching changes, which I thought was ironic. I hate the hire but I never said once we should fire our coach.

Shulas performance was mediocre, they got into the top 10 a couple times but yea, they weren't satisfied with shula. Go to their board and ask them and they'll say getting rid of shula was the best thing to ever happen to Alabama lol And tressel was forced out but I'm sure Ohio State fans would rather have Meyer over Tressel at this point.

No, just pointing out how you can be on top of the mountain one minute and literally out of a job the next. Oh but LSU is a lot worse than auburn :roll eyes:

The type of fan who wants to see their team win? Well sh*t I'm sorry for not being a fan then since I think hiring someone who hasn't done squat in his previous DC or HC jobs was a bad call. Like I said, hopefully I'm wrong

So were Bama fans supposed to be happy with mike Shula? He had Bama in the top 10 1 yr before he was fired. 6 losses the next yr and he was gone. Or how about those miserable michigan fans? Or texas of fsu are a little more similar to lsu. Had a guy that was once very successful but he is on the decline in his career. Why ride miles all the way to the bottom? The direction of the program is clearly not the right way.

There is no pleasing most of you. Who knows how this hire will go? Why not just let it play out and reserve judgement for when/if it fails? I'm amazed to see that Les is still able to convince all these recruits to come to Baton Rouge knowing that the fans can and will turn on you at a moments notice. It's the most wishy washy fanbase in the country. You all can praise Les Miles for bringing in great recruiting classes, but it's all his fault when they're so good that they decide it's in their best interest to enter the draft as underclassmen. I could go on and on about all of the hypocritical comments out there, but I just want to know why some of you even bother being fans with such a negative perspective on everything that is LSU football? Wouldn't it be easier and lead to a happier lifestyle to just jump ships and become Alabama fans? Or Ohio State fans? Hell just become bandwagon fans and jump ships every season if that makes you happy. Whatever happened to a healthy debate? The only debate that goes on around here lately is about misspelled words or grammatical errors.

Once again you're comparing our team under Les Miles to a totally incomparable scenario (Alabama under Mike Shula). If these two scenarios were similar in anyway this thread would not be made, because Les would have been fired long ago.

even though I hate the hire I hope he does just as good as you think he will.

I never implicated how much success Steele will or will not have here. I simply said give him a chance before you call for his head. Once again you're putting words in my mouth.

You're assessment is way off base.

Which assessment? The one where I said we should just give the a guy a chance? I don't see how that can be way off considering it is the only thing we can do.

Hahah Shula had one 10 win season, a 4 win season, and 2 6 win seasons. Les miles has had 3 seasons at Lsu out of 10 where he didn't win at least 10 games and never had fewer than 8 wins. How can you keep making theses types of comparisons?? Like I said earlier, this thread would never exist if our program was anywhere near where Alabama was with Mike Shula because Les would no longer be our head coach.

A lot of overreaction here. There are plenty more casual LSU fans out there. Many posters here on tRant are way more passionate than some. It's a message board

Another one of my favorite misconceptions from the rant. You can't just fail to mention that he won 4 games and 6 games in the two years leading up to that 10 win season.

Ok and you completely skipped the rest of my post and highlighted the only part that you had an "ah hah" moment, even though you're proving my point by telling other LSU fans to jump on Alabamas bandwagon in your FIRST post while still trying to argue over a comparison that you're making up. It's called IRONY! Know what it means? I'll lay it out for you!

Alabama is mediocre under Shula.

Alabama fires Shula

Alabama hires Saban

Alabama is really good

LSU is mediocre under Les Miles

You tell LSU fans to jump on Alabamas bandwagon

Wait for it......

Wait for it...........

IRONY!

There you go

Are you retarded? If our fans were as retarded as you then we would be ok with 5 or 6 losses a year. Maybe we want LSU to not suck as much as your ok with them sucking? IDK, why are you even a fan at all if you give zero f*cks how LSU does?

Show me one time Les has had a 6 loss record. Only 2 of his seasons have had 5.

Take your head out of your arse before you start spitting all this bullshite.

Ok and I'll lay it out for you since you continue to make these absurd comparisons.

Mediocrity = 26-23, 13-19 (conf)

Mediocrity =\= 103-29, 56-24 (conf)

I understand that the program may not be as great as we all hope for it to be right now but this knee jerk reaction to everything is ridiculous.

Oh for frick's sake. LSU just hired a guy who has NEVER been successful as a DC and was a position coach at the time of hire.

Elite or even semi-elite programs don't hire "project" hires for coordinators.

No pleasing us? How about there appears to be now way for you to pull your face out of Miles' lap?
