The school will compete in Division I beginning this school year.
Laval replaced LSU legend Skip Bertman in 2002 and coached the Tigers until 2006. He took LSU to the College World Series in both 2003 and ’04, with the Tigers going 0-2 both times

We need to get N. Florida on the schedule once Smoke takes over. Let him come back to see in person what this program is suppose to look like !

Its a good hire for a school like North Florida. Smoke can recruit and the championship rings will go a long way with the kids. Good luck to him.

Actually, the guy Smoke had recruiting for him is now the head coach at a higher profile school in Florida than Smoke is at. Turtle is turning around Florida International right now.

No question Turtle is an excellent recruiter but that in no way diminishes Smoke's ability to recruit as demonstrated during his LSU years prior to Turtle.
