Would Tiger Nation be happy with 37 points per game in 2017?

I'm sure most would, and the haters probably don't realize that's the number O and Ensminger put up in the last 8 games of 2016........

Over the last 8 games LSU as a team went from a 111 to 140 passer rating. The jump obviously started when Etling took over. LSU averaged 37 points per game, compared to just 21 in the first 4 starts "Cam,Miles era". The season changed for the better last year when Etling,O, and Ensminger took over. Yea I get that the Bama/Fla games sucked. But the D-line coach and the TE coach STILL averaged 37 points per game even with those 2 games included........Canada needs to avg 40+ just to beat Ensmingers performance with a limited playbook, and I think he ABSOLUTLY will.

40+ points per game, Dave Aranda, and Bama not knowing the toss dive is coming will equal success!

For the most part it doesn't matter what etling or Canada do season wise. Both and O will be measured on the Bama game. They can average 40 a game but then put up 3 on Bama and it will get thick real quick

I call bullshite on that, extreme.
If LSU goes 11-1 and gives Bama a helluva game, nobody will complain.

Hell, Bama walked backwards into the National Championship doing the same thing.

The first four games with Les included Mississippi State (LSU - 23 points) and Jacksonville State (1-AA) (34 points). According to the OP LSU averaged more points (37) the last 8 games than they scored against 1-AA Jacksonville State (34). Five teams of the last eight were ranked at the time that LSU played them.

Not to rain on your parade...
The first number is rush defense for the respective team and the second is scoring defense. I used these 2 stars because it best represnted the strengths of the LSU team as compared to the defensive ranking. If there is a bend but don't break kind of defense i.e. red zone, it is reflected in scoring defense.

If you recall the UF game LSU moved the ball but didn't score... UF was 6th in scoring defense, but 38 in rush defense for example.

This is a measure of the offense and why hiring O is such a huge gamble.

The bottom line LSU was perfectly capable and expected to do well against those team.

Missouri - 112: 90
Southern Miss - 46: 74
Ole Miss - 120; 100
UF - 38; 6
Bama - 1; 1
Arky - 94; 85
TAMU - 80; 40
UL - 12; 31

LSU is in the Playoffs if Bama is their only loss the last 2 years. Next year might be different, but you never know

A DL coach and a TE coach averaged 37 PPG, including the shutout to Bama? That's all the proof in the world Miles was the problem. Jacksonville St had 13 first downs in the first quarter to our 1, it was an atrocious spectacle.

Well according to Matt Moscona today on AFR if LSU becomes too efficient on offense it'll have a negative effect on the defense.

Uhh. Nothing in there says anything.
Go to here and get the final rankings. Some actually improved after LSU played them...
I got them straight from NCAA dumbass.

What does it matter?
It has ZERO to do with the post. The OP commented about Ed O taking over. Ws and Ls are all that matters at the end of the day.
But I'll endulge:
Whisky - 3; 5
AU - 27; 7
MooSt - 70; 93
Jacksonville state - ended No 6 in FCS. Don't have their defensive stats.
So the 4 losses the opponents scoring defense was top 7. Rush defense was of the teams Miles coached against and lost 2 were better then UF.
Nothing I can say other than, LSU beat teams that had poor defense from a rush and scoring perspective.

I agree with much of your point, but you can't ignore that timely 3rd down conversions will also be essential regardless of points.

Many posters like to make snide remarks about LSU hiring the DL coach as Head Coach, but Ensminger did a far superior job with the offense than Miles and Cameron combined. If a TE coach can do that, then promoting a dl coach to head coach can certainly work great.

To answer your question, yes. I would be very happy with 37 pts/game.

Why must you always try to compare O to miles? Ya know, we fired miles right? He obviously wasn't getting the job done, so why is he your barometer?

Fact is, we ran up the score and the stats on sucky defenses, specifically bad run defenses. They get credit for that. Good job O and ensminger.

They stunk it up against the two good defenses They played.

actually they ran all over Florida, they just couldn't stick it in the end zone. I believe we had over 400 yards of offense against them

It pisses you off doesn't it Sammy. Lmao. Someone said something positive about O and Lsu. At least they COULD run up the score against the likes of arky, a&m, ole miss, Louisville...compared to jack st and miss state...lol
