penalty, especially since no warning was given.

they also assumed that the ref tripped on a player while running on the sideline. they usually don't give warnings for this because they are pissed and embarrassed. so, they just throw the hanky.

They eliminated the sideline warning rule a few years ago. Now, it's an automatic 5 yards for the first 2 infractions and 15 yards for each one after that.

There were no 5 yard penalties given, and LsU received a 15 yarder, half the distance because of where we were, AFTER the play.

What happened?

They were Big 12. This must have been the F list crew. No wonder they were screwed up, that conference can't even count. Seriously that was some of the worse officiating, the sideline call, the fumble that was not a fumble, the Forward Pass debacle, (thats been called a fumble in every other game i watched) and several other questionable calls. Iowa can't scream bias since they were the benefactor of most of them.

Maybe I'm wrong. I found this from a rule change in 2008. Guess the rule could have changed again since then.

quote:

4. Game Administration. Sideline Infraction (Rule 9-1-6). The committee has changed the rule regarding sideline personnel being in the restricted area, which is between the sideline and the coaching box. The former sideline warning has given way to a sideline infraction which carries an immediate yardage penalty. The first two infractions have a five-yard delay of game penalty, and the third and subsequent violations now carry a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. LINK

With all those calls, I was convinced the Head-linesman was for Iowa until he spotted the ball on 3rd n 4th and 1 at the end, and didn't cheat it up

have to agree officals were very poor all the way around, not just against us, Mills call was legit, but the fumbles, forward pass and check out the marking of the ball on our first TD drive that started at 6 after Hill clearly was in bounds until the 4....forward progress call...etc. Iowa fans can bitch, but it was both ways and at least as bad for us as them

Seriously? About what?

I am pretty sure they were upset about the substitution infraction when they didn't substitute anyone.

I had a conversation with a ref about this rule a couple of years ago, when they changed the rule, and it stems from an incident where someone on the sideline got injured when they were run over by an official in the prohibited area. The idiot sued the official and actually got a judgment, if I recall correctly. The officials were incensed, and insisted that they needed more protection in the rules.

They had an insane number of false starts though, it was almost laughable to watch

So they completely assed that call up?

Not sure. I linked the rule change in 2008. Could have changed again.
