I think people is exagerating when they say we can't win with Harris at QB. The guy had a good season overall for a first year starter on a pro system ( 130 rating) . I get it, we lost three in a row and he didn't perform. Did you forget Mettemberger didn't play great as a RS-JR except for Bama?...
Growing In the system allowed him to raise in QB rating from 128 to about 171 (pro-football reference).

Have you seen Brandon Allen's developments from a So to a Sr ? .. 49 to 65 completion %.
McCarron and Luck had symilar paths; although McCarron started a little better but he was a RS-Sophomore ( the youngest starter on Bama with Saban to win something )
Pro styles REQUIRE time.

Yes, we need to adapt the system to the players.
Yes, we need to recruit qbs better.
Maybe, Cam and Les need to copy some of Kiffin stuff, and not be a spread team.

We get Bama at Home and return a ton of talent and experience everywhere.

We can win (at least make the playoffs) and HARRIS can prove his value if he stays in a similar system, just upgraded and avoid I injuries (the hernia worries me).

I am not sorry for the long rant.

I think people are more fed up that we had to rely on a true sophomore in his first year starting. We should not be in a situation with no serviceable upperclassmen QBs.

This. I dont think he was that bad...all things considered. He most certainly will be better this season.

I haven't seen ALOT of Harris bashing, the only fair negative things that can be said now is how hard and a little off target hes thrown intermediate middle routes which has led to some turnovers and ending drives. Those could have been due to injury though, most expect him to continue to improve next year. I think Cam is a much bigger issue. I was pumped when he came here. He's been pretty awful IMO and I don't care about the year we had juice, OBJ, J Hill, Trai Turner, Lael and Mett. Didn't take a genius with that talent

I think people (myself included) see Cameron trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. He makes his qb's fit his system, rather than tailoring his offense to them. I think that takes longer to bring a qb along. Brandon still has a chance to be great these next two years.

I agree that he isn't bad like he's made out to be.

Mett had similar first year starting numbers.. and he was a JUNIOR..

Harris (SOPHOMORE)

Mett (JUNIOR)

2012 207 of 352 2609 yards 58.8% cmp 7.4 ypa 12 TDs 7 INT 128.3 rating..

KEEP IN MIND.. Mettenberger had 1 more game. Brandon did not get the benefit of playing one extra cupcake game (he's actually very good against those type of teams) and Mett was a Junior..

Next time one of those idiots starts yapping that bs at you, tell them to go play their madden game. They turn beet red and start sputtering like Lou Holtz cause they can't handle the truth about themselves.

It's still not that unrealistic to hope for good production out of a young QB. Guys like Kizer and Mahomes, who were lower rated QBs than Harris had better stats.

Lots of people don't solely blame Harris. We also blame the people who are responsible in preparing and developing Harris.

The same people who were bashing the life out of Anthony Jennings and begging for Harris to start, are the same ones who were calling for Harris to be benched so Jennings could go in. It is a never-ending cycle, and will never change. .

I haven't noticed much bashing if Harris
No more critique than most SEC starters get

But as a true soph is he really behind schedule as far as development goes? I'd say no.

I think the legitimate complaint was already addressed. Lack of upperclassmen QBs that are ready to play.

It took Mettenberger as a senior to finally break out..

Harris is already on par as a Sophomore.

Again, I wish we could have gotten the McNeese St game in, Harris' numbers would be better. He was great against that type of competition the season prior.

sadly, there is a segment of posters on here that HAVE ALREADY PASSED JUDGEMENT. once this happens, they NEVER CHANGE THEIR MIND. also, there are some LSU fans that would have hated Peyton Manning. perfection is their only acceptable option.

I agree with everything you post. I think Mr. Harris is gonna be a durn good QB and maybe a great one.

Brandon Harris will be a very good SEC QB before he's finished at LSU.

Yes , Maybe the Gunner Kiel effect has something to do...
But then again. Harris got the experience of 2015 as an underclassmen. So I see it as : We sacrificed a year and (and a #2 hype ) for the year it was all about (2016)...
our 2013 class was under performing, then our 2015 year was merely a hope.

also . I have seen negative comments at Harris himself. They just won't comment on this specific post. Even Barrett Sallee or whatever, who I don't respect that much, declared us an 8-4 team because of harris

Should Harris be better? Yes.

But it's not his fault. Our staff has not put him and the other offensive players in the best chance to succeed. This everyone line up inside the hash marks and we will either pitch it back or try to complete a 70 yard bomb every play is just total bull shite.

Also it happens every year. We never get young QBs any experience. We could have played Jefferson a ton in the Tulane game but we didn't. Then threw him to the wolves. 11 we beat the dog shite out of everyone. Perfect time to get mett and bunch of throws and use to the speed. Nope.

Last year we are awful and out of game but just keep Harris on the bench and say we will start him fresh the next year. Makes no sense.
