Who cares what SI thinks, they are irrelevant.
SI had LSU ranked #14 in the same poll last year (Koolaid). LINK Actual year-end ranking was #31. SI was 17 spots too generous last year. Statistically speaking, SI is making reasonable and impartial adjustments. Keyword: impartial.

Fair enough, I certainly wouldn't have Auburn ranked #2.

23 is generous in my opinion.

Let me see....Vegas has LSU in the top 10 in team odds to win the NC.......at 15-1....several of the teams ahead of LSU are between 25-50 to 1......but you agree with SI....LMAO. I would expect nothing less from one of, if not THE worst poster on this site. I mean seriously.....who are you going to listen to.....SI or Vegas? WTF does vegas know....lmao.

who was it, Phil Steele who had Auburn 5th or 6th in the West. They return FOUR starters on offense...yet they are penciled in. LOL. I don't generally respect your opinion when it comes to LSU because frankly, you are a knee-jerking over-reacting kid sounding poster. But you are correct on Auburn. That Sports Illustrated has them #2...is comical, and meaningless.

They're never good at predicting anything but the low hanging fruit. Here is last year's... '14 SI Pre season poll

Listen...everyone knows that you are a pos poster on this site with one objective. I don't think you want to start looking up the history of SI's predictions....you might be a little embarrassed that you are sticking by them as if they were some very knowledgeable college football prognosticator.

Vegas has Arkansas as #6, UGA 7, and Auburn 10.

How exactly do you frick up a preseason PREDICTION article?

by not doing your homework and at least getting your story right? Pick them wherever you want...but at least get the personnel graded properly.

Also, remember that LSU was an 8-5 team last year. It's not like they finished on a positive note and are being robbed in this poll.

Most level-headed people realize that LSU was VERY young last year in terms of experience, and definitely in playmaking positions. It stands to reason that returning 16 starters should significantly improve LSU's 8-4 regular season from a year ago...especially given that most of the most important playmakers were true freshmen and just learning the SEC game. Of course, you will run with what is most negative though....that's who you are.

Last year they had no Miss St, USCe ranked 11th and A&M ranked too. SI is terrible at picking pre season

no...they don't have arky at #6 in odds to win the NC. Stop lying. Georgia and Auburn and LSU were all pretty close together though in odds.

By putting any Ole Miss team better than 20-25 at the absolute best

agreed. Ole Miss has no running game to rely on, and a poor OL returning....to go with a new QB. They have a good, but light defense that is vulnerable to power teams rushing the ball right at them. Unless the Ole Miss QB comes in and lights it up, then they are going to be dismal on offense. I believe that either Ole Miss or State will finish last in the West...with the other close by.

and could very well start the season at 1-2...

do you get wet when you post this over, and over, and over?

You are on record, bookmarked, that Miss State is a likely loss for LSU......and we can't match up with Auburn's incredible offense.

Mississippi State returns 7 total starters.....lol.....and have nowhere near the talent of the elite SEC teams.....they have a QB that teams began to figure out during the second half of the season. If he goes down, they are likely a 3-9 type team....that tells you what kind of TEAM they have.

Auburn returns four offensive starters, a new QB, and a new DC, and they play in Tiger Stadium which has proved difficult for them...yet you are on them like they are some incredible machine. FYI, LSU is favored in 11 games out of 12 as of now....including over both MSU and Auburn. Can LSU lose both games....??? Sure...but that's not likely to happen. I guess one can dream though right?

Not much of an issue with GUS as the HC... They will score points and Will has the D better than last year.... No way they should be #2 though........Maybe 12-14. LSU should be at about the same.... BUT SI has a good point with the QB question........

SI... Didn't they call Miss St "The Rebels"? Yeah, they're in tune with SEC football.

I was just curious as to why they put Moo state on one of their regional covers. Do they just use a dart board to select them?

You keep thinking that. Maybe they will, but it's certainly not a given.

Will has the D better than last year.

You have no idea if they will have a better D. Odds are they will, because they were pretty bad last year...but who knows.

BUT SI has a good point with the QB question........

could be said at Ole Miss, Auburn, and Alabama, just to name a few. I'm actually pretty happy to have two experienced QB's coming back for LSU....and go ahead and bookmark this, but LSU won't have near the worst QB play in the SEC this year....and it won't be close....in fact, they could have qb play that is in the top 5 or 6 in the SEC...go ahead and laugh. You chicken littles don't really understand being a rookie QB in the SEC....look at Mett in 2012....didn't exactly light it up for most of the year....it takes time people.

FTR, I don't care what SI has LSU ranked, it's completely meaningless.

I have NEVER said LSU would lose to MSU... I have said the game will be harder than most homers on here think...........

AU has and WILL have a better offense than LSU this year.... Again I have NEVER said LSU will lose to AU.... The game will be a close game and anything can happen... AGAIN.... It will be all about the LSU qb play this year... The better it goes so goes LSU'S shot at being in the top of the SEC.....

quote:

Mississippi State returns 7 total starters.....lol

SO.... You act like they have ZERO depth..... Typical homer.......

quote:

, LSU is favored in 11 games out of 12 as of now

There is NO WAY to base this on but go ahead... Vegas has got you duped with all these early odds........

Again SI is a preseason poll... It means little just like any other preseason poll... Let the games play out and start ranking them in October........

you keep posting 1-2 start....but I guess you are covering your tracks either way it goes.....if they win, you can say I thought they would win...if they lose, you can say that you predicted very possible 1-2....LOL.....clown.

It's a completely different kind of offense. If LSU gets decent qb play, which I expect they will...then I wouldn't trade THIS offense for anyones. It will be a perfect wear you down, ball control offense that begins to dominate as the game wears on...and with the ability to complete a forward pass....it will be lethal. It's the most effective offense in college football TODAY. You can have all the hurry up, gimmick bs you want...with a big, powerful offensive line, elite running backs and wide receivers, and decent QB, and a pro style offense....you literally break the will of the other team and wear them out while keeping their offense off the field. That is what LSU will have this year providing LF and MD don't have too many long scoring plays.

SO.... You act like they have ZERO depth..... Typical homer.......

Listen dumbass, even teams with elite talent don't just re-load after losing that many starters, let alone a team that routinely finishes at the bottom of the recruiting rankings in the SEC. State doesn't re-load, they re-build. There is a reason why they had a decent year (and by decent I mean a 3 loss season, which is not great for a lot of SEC teams) and it's because they had man 4 and 5 year guys. But hey, you keep believing next man up.

Vegas doesn't have me shite. I'm simply pointing out that this is how vegas views LSU as of right now...could that change....absolutely...but as of now, vegas has a pretty good outlook for a team loaded with elite talent that returns 16 starters......again, what do they know....are they ever wrong? Of course...but they don't make a habit of it or you wouldn't see all those fancy new casinos there.
