If the 2008 defense had been above average, the frewhman QBs would not have been forced to try and carry the team.

If Jennings and Harris were asked to do what was asked of Lee and JJ I suspect the turnovers would mount.

The question is, why can't Less keep an experienced QB, once the starter passes on?
Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, and Missouri all lost Sr QBs. Their offense is still the same.

Last year was due to having a senior QB. You are trying to steal my argument I made earlier and presenting it as your own but in the wrong context.

Young QBs put Les in shutdown mode. Name the last young QB to sling it around and you have your answer.

Lost Fumble - bad

Rushing

Educate yourself. LSU passed the football more than any other team in the country in 2013.

Why would you just make up an incredibly incorrect fact and then demean people for not knowing it

he's won ALOT more than 80% since that time. where does this number come from?

The fact that some throw out last year as a counter argument kind of makes the case
it also contradicts your point. he calls games according to mitigation; risk vs reward, all 3 phases of the game, etc. apparently, he's better at this than anyone other than saban

I think the only reason we have a "vanilla O" right now is because of the competition. I think Cam has a few cards up his sleeve for the big boys.

Bruh, did y'all really wanna see LSU fun and gun it all over UL Monroe? Man, just relax. The point of these games is to work on the basics, get young guys some reps and STAY HEALTHY. For two weeks in a row LSU has accomplished this. Do you complain when the Saints don't throw it all over the field in a pre season game against the Raiders?

By the time the Tigers go to Auburn, they'll be more experienced and healthy. Most importantly there will likely only be one game worth of useful film for Auburn to prepare with. Sounds like a good plan to me.

Les ought to be more concerned with some of his own hair brained decisions - like the complete lack of a game plan against Bama in the BCS game, or those clock issues at the end of the Tenn and Ole Miss games. Those couple of things tainted his reputation way more than JL throwing a few pic 6s as a RFSR. How about his decision to replace Pelini with Malveeto and Jimbo with Crowton? What a bone head move those hires were. If 2008 taught him anything it should have been the lesson that he needs great coordinators.

Hanagriff mentioned this at the end of show last night. It basically goes something like this: following the '08 season (JL's int fest), Les decided he would never, ever live through that again. He knows he can win 80% of the games via D, ST's, and a vanilla O. Consequently, our O has been exceedingly conservative ever since. I agree with Hanagriff's explanation of what's transpired.

In 2011 with a conservative offense and great defense LSU won 93% of their games.

In 2013 with a wide open offense and just a good defense LSU won 77% of their games.

What was the question again?

I wish someone had been more conservative when we were throwing all the interceptions in Oxford last year.

Go back and watch the film, I believe all of those int's came out of a power formation and were one receiver routes, so yes, it was a very conservative approach at Ole Miss last year. When we opened it up in the second half and made Ole Miss try to defend out athletes in space, they could not do it.

Had the defense been "good" at Georgia, we would have won the game.

2013 says hello

LSU does not have lots of 3000 yard passers.

I suspect that when Jennings is a senior, he'll be trusted to throw the ball 25 to 28 times per game.

He's just not there yet. Neither is Harris (but I'll be damned if they aren't both already elusive as hell and extend plays with their feet).

Since '08 LSU has been roaming the field with more NFL players than everyone it has played. It's not the losses to Alabama that drive people crazy (disappointing, sure, but nothing to drive you over the deep end), but the losses to the Ole Misses of the world, or the 2012 Florida team, or the close games with inferior teams like Iowa, Arkansas, etc that leave you wanting a more balanced offense to go along with a normally very strong defense.

Played in the sugar bowl and was an ELITE defense. And we played them close. Not at all the same.
