I don't even think he is close at all. Adams is good, but as many great plays as he has made, he has missed almost the same amount. Inconsistent.

I think it is safe to say that Jeremy Johnson doesn't score a 65 yard touchdown if Mathieu was in the middle on this picture.

Yeah, if Mathieu would have been able to play every game he was eligible for in an entire career he would have set a few NCAA records.

He had the 6th most forced fumbles all time in two years (and when you look at his playing time 1.5 years). I'm pretty sure he has the SEC records for career and single season.

By 11 draft spots, I'm talking like a whole 50 picks here. Like 2 whole rounds higher

Mathieu's production in forced fumbles, and INT's is unparrallelled in college football history. Adams has a chance to be as good as Landry or Reid. But with respect to those two greats none of them had near the impact that Mathieu did for LSU.

TM7 was a once in a generation guy IMO.

exactly! prob the best defender to ever play at LSU.

That's not a slight to Adams. Im expecting him to turn in an all american type performance this year

We all know what Mathieu brought to special teams

A lot of heart burn until the Arkansas and UGA games.

I like Adams, but Mathieu just had unrivaled instincts.

The only one comparable was Eric Berry.

fixed

Jamal is really good, but TM isn't a fair standard to judge anyone else against.

Unfair comparison but Adams is top tier and will be a first round draft pick.

Berry was probably the greatest Safety to ever play college ball, but I think Adams has a better chance of approaching his level than he does Mathieu's. Mathieu was just a completely unique type of player. Guys have had lucky stretches of 4-5 games plenty, Mathieu did it for an entire season as a Sophomore and plenty as a Freshman. Hell, it's carrying over into his pro career where many thought his size might diminish his ability. It's like he plays the game with a cheat code.

Mathieu might be the most talented player to ever put on the purple and gold.

He wasn't even the most talented guy on his team. Now he had a knack for causing turnovers but he also had opportunity...PP7 is definitely more talented.

To me, this is where the line is drawn from most talented athlete to most talented football player

Love Adams but we will never see another Mathieu in our lifetime imo. You will see bigger, faster, stronger, players but TM is a natural football player with instincts on a level that no one else has.

Mathieu was the best defensive player LSU has ever had. No disrespect to Adams, but no, he's not better.

What is the point of your troll? The only thing that might have kept TM out of round 1 before getting dismissed was his size.

He was plenty fast and had outstanding production.
