And Sam isn't the only one. People discredit this when talking about shep. That alone makes him not a bust. Shep will find a home in the nfl. Plenty of coaches will love his measurables and his combine should be good.

Im sure if Shepard had it to do over again he would have made a different choice. Just sayin'

And go to Texas? What much better would he be there?
And on a failing program too.

What if that pass is just a 65 yard dime, that hits landry right in stride for a TD.

Im sure he intended to actually play college football. Are you really saying if he had to do it over he wouldnt have chosen somewhere he could play? Its nothing against LSU.

Shep really does symbolize all that is good about Tiger football. He may not be the leading rusher, or receiver, but that doesn't make him less of a leader. Geaux Shep!

Sam had a sack or two of Shep in that game. Of course Loston had a mean hit too on his cousin Shep. Too bad we couldn't get Debose.

Shep's one of those guys with a lot of intangibles that most folks don't get to see and aren't reflected in stats.

I don't expect many Rantards to have a clue what I mean.

He's was never gonna be an NFL player no matter where he went. I wish he had won a MNC here but sometime thing don't always work out. What ever he does with his life after football atleast he got a free degree from LSU. I wish him nothing but the best.

I wish he would become a graduate assistant, and work his way to a full member of our coaching staff.

i've told everyone all along that shep's talents are not on the football field. yes, he's a good player but just not good enough in any one category. the nfl is not for him. he's better off anyway going into business or coaching. i am sure that if he maintains his attitude, russell shepard will be a success at whatever he does. AND, when he's fifty he won't have to replace his knees and hips and have premature arthritis along with much pain. i think it would be great if coach miles would take him under his wing and develop him as a coach. i doubt he would end up at LSU because timing is so crucial in a coaches career with job progressions but he can make millions as a head coach somewhere. mr. shepard, thanks for coming to LSU and thanks for being LSU. us tiger fans wish you the best in your future endeavors.

That recruiting class was sick. Some from that class:

Michael Brockers
Mo Claiborne
Michael Ford
Bennie Logan
Craig Loston
Keke Mingo
Kevin Minter
Sam Montgomery
Rueben Randle
Russell Shepard

Shep needs to be a teacher/mentor/coach. He's just a great guy.

love what Shep has done for LSU in the ambassador arena.

Since I live in Dallas, I had a chance to take my 3 year old daughter to welcome the team to the hotel for the Cotton Bowl. There were only about 10-15 LSU fans there so when the team got off the buses, most came over and signed stuff for the people that were there. My daughter was sporting her RS jersey and he came right over to her first and told her he loved her jersey, picked her up and took a few pics with her for me. The team made their way to get their keys and headed to their rooms. About 10 minutes later, RS came back down and made it a point to speak to EVERY single LSU fan for another 20 minutes. Great kid and def an amazing ambassador for LSU. He will be missed.

tl;dr - RS loves LSU and it's fans.
