You know that fat frick had discretion to arrest him, but never asked him a question until after Montgomery was under arrest. What a fat frick. Damn

Did that cop seriously pull Sam's phone out and start going through it?

I have a want to break this cops nose.

It's amazing that our society and legal system still take cops words 100% if there isn't a video to prove otherwise.

If it wasn't for this dash cam, no one would ever believe Sam's side. It's insane to think about how much shite cops got away with before dash cams, security cams and cell phone videos.

Props to this department for actually holding its officers accountable.

Wow, at one point the cop says "Spread your feet!" then 20 seconds later he's yelling at him to put his feet together.

All in all, wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But still, cop's a douche.

He wasn't even read his Miranda rights before being arrested....I'm no lawyer but I saw 21 jump street. Isn't that required? I'm sure the charges were dropped now anyway

If you're going 20 MPH over the limit it's the cops discretion whether to arrest you or not. Did you notice how he asked Sam if he was NFL and the second he said yes the cop told him he was under arrest? He would have let most people go unless he thought they were under the influence.

ETA: Let him go with just a ticket.

That's just stupid. It should be for wreckless driving/endangerment only. Going 89 in a 55 on an abandoned road is just plain stupid to arrest someone for.

I fail to see any reason to arrest Big Sam. It was totally unnecessary.

I'm shocked he was suspended for that. There is a good police department out there that holds its officers accountable

I agree 100% and most of the time people don't get arrested for it unless they are drunk or high.

Do you think the department would have issued a public statement and suspended the trooper if the speeder had been a regular joe?

The department holds its troopers to the highest standard of conduct and expects them to treat the public with courtesy and respect. Once this matter was brought to our attention, we began a review of the traffic stop and self-initiated an internal investigation. While Trooper Salter was within the law to make an arrest for the speeding violation in excess of 25 mph, Salter's behavior during the traffic stop of Mr. Montgomery was not representative of the professionalism displayed by our troopers and officers every day around the state.

Wow.

The person wouldn't have been arrested if they were a regular joe.
