Sucks that things turned out the way they did, but c'est la vie!

I was a freshman in 2000 and remember holding up the "Just in the Nick of Time" signs the first game of the year. I went to every home game that year and had an absolute blast.
My wife (unknown to me at the time) had a speech class and her professor told the class that she was approached by the athletic department to teach Saban how to speak to the media. She apparently tutored Saban on media relations and how to communicate more effectively. I guess they didn't like his press conferences when he first arrived!

LSU built the Football Operations Center in 2005.
Before then, they had to bus the players from Tiger Stadium to the practice fields and/or indoor field every day, and then back.

Nice! The one I remember was during the Hallman era—not sure what year but I know Pedro Suarez was the kicker. The only reason I remember that much is because 8-10 year old me thought Pedro was the coolest and nicest guy ever.
ETA: 91, I think.

ahhh ok. good ole pedro. yup. i have basically blocked all hallmans time out my mind it seems. ugh. I do not think we went to any fan days with him as HC. We started going with dinardo in 97.

That story with the pastor talking about Tiger Stadium got me pretty good. I’ve never been able to describe the feeling of being there but Saban put it perfectly.

Would you just go away dude? No one cares about your dumbass takes.
“Saban can’t force an administrations hand”
Maybe he made some recommendations and the athletics department felt he proposed a strong case.
“Why didn’t he do that at Michigan state then”
Maybe MSU preferred to be cheap. Maybe that why they can’t win anything

FIFY
Dude became an insufferable bastard as armor for the criticism he took for the way he bailed on his “dream” of the NFL after he lectured the media about how he was “not going to be the coach at Alabama”.
It changed quickly, but he was a pariah for that offseason, and just never took down the wall he put up around himself.
It paid off, as the media became his scared and beaten little pets that carried water for him for the next 15 years.
But it turned him into a unlikable tyrant.

Anyone remember who the player was that quit?

Any idea what player Saban is talking about who skipped 3 days of practice? Did he rejoin the team?
Posted on 1/12/24 at 9:52 am to 504everNOLA
That was 20 years ago and he said the PMAC needed to get re-done Think he wouldn't have had that done by now despite not being the basketball coach?

Young Saban was such a monster, I could watch that version of him coach all day
