I am sure he will have a short leash. Tomorrow is pitch by committee and then turn the keys over to your aces.

Again Florida is not a great hitting team. If LSU throws strikes they will hit themselves into outs. LSU will need to score no doubt but I don't think they will need 8-10. 5 might do it.

Riser had the umpire check the cap for an illegal substance since he touches his hat every time before throwing a pitch.

If Reynolds is throwing strikes, I think this turns out to be a good move. The team is going to play hard behind him.

The bats just have to show up. And all the pitchers used need to pound the strike zone. Let UF get themselves out.

You gotta believe Reynolds figured he was about to end his career as a little known mid week pitcher that no one would remember. All of a sudden he has an opportunity to make his mark in LSU history. All of the media attention suddenly shining on him. He probably dreamed of this as a kid. I'm happy for him. He looks happy as a pig in shite in that pic.

I remain bullish on CPM's stock during this run. Let's do this....Geaux Tigers and big Russ Reynolds.

no worries about that in the CWS man. he'll be cool if he just doesn't give up a bunch of free passes.

Never seen the guy pitch. What are his strengths & weaknesses? What's his best pitches? Does he have good control?

TIA.

Poche on 5 days rest is a good move. He has to pitch one of the first two games anyway.

Lange is obviously not available until the (if necessary) Wed. game at best.

Walker's injury and Gilbert pitching yesterday made the wholestaff approach for game 1 necessary.

CPM is going with an experienced guy to start the game. I think he feels that the less-experienced guys will do better coming out of the pen with no time to get nervous/anxious thinking about starting a NC series game.

He definitely might get himself fired if he put Poche and/or Lange out there to early after throwing 115 pitches and they were injured.

The program would look terrible and all we would hear about on ESPN and in baseball circles is that LSU put wins ahead of these kids future.

If you started Poche on Monday and he had a rough go and you used your pen then you would also have to use a short handed pen on Tuesday. So we are just short pitching this series no matter how you slice it.

Bottom line is we have two win two games. Doesn't matter in what order. Giving your pitchers adequate rest means you put them in the best position to win.

Once they step on the mound it is up to them. Coach is pretty helpless.
