Come on, give the OP a break. You know they all look the same.

Football players, that is.

I said 250-350 on high school clean. 350 being the most and 250 being the least. Definitely not possible for every 18 year old to clean 350, but I would think most grown men could walk up to a bar and clean 250 pretty comfortably

Im not hating on Jefferson at all. I'm just surprised that most on here consider that a big clean

Maybe I'm crazy. I didn't think what I'm saying is absurd. I am high school football coach at a school that only averages about 3 wins a year and hasn't had a d1 kid in 4 seasons but every 11-12th grade kid in our program can comfortably hit 250 and a dozen or so can do over 300 every year. I've always assumed that's standard stuff.

Ive completely hijacked this thread and that wasn't my intention. My bad

Holy shite. Most people at a bar can't bench 250 and you think they can clean 250.

Are thinking of dead lift? Because I'm calling bullshite on every single 12th grader,on your team, picking up 250 lbs and lifting it above their shoulders.

I have no reason to make that up. I'll see if I can find some ways to prove it

It's cool. We are actually having a civil discussion without calling each other a dumbass bitch. That's a rarity for me on here. I'm a loud obnoxious coonass though

So you're saying every single 12 grader can clean 250 easily? I graduated from West Monroe and there were some 12th graders that couldn't bench 280 let alone clean 250. You do realize that the average GROWN man CAN NOT bench 250 lbs, right? Let alone clean it.

This is the best I can come up without being in the office.

This is a video our S&C coach made that played on our jumbotron during our pregame warm ups last season. It doesn't completely prove what Im saying but shows a bunch of different kids hammering 250+

Power clean is our base lift. Most of our kids clean a lot more then they bench in our program

Those aren't power cleans, those are squat cleans or just the traditional clean end of of a clean and jerk. A power clean allows very minimal knee bend at the catch. Ricky in that video picked 315 up to almost shoulder height before he got underneath it.

The difference varies from person to person but in my experience I can usually full clean 20-25% more than I can power clean.

Impressive stuff from the guys in your videos though.

That's a good argument. Jefferson does pull the barbell to almost shoulder height. That is impressive

I was just about to say this. Only 3 guys in that video did what Jefferson did. 99% of those guys did most of the lifting with their legs. Still impressive though. I've always said the way to get powerful is squats, dead lift, mill press, and clean.you can keep bench press and curls

A power clean is hard as hell. A power clean works more muscles than almost any other lift. When you pull the bar from the floor to your waist, you work your legs, hips and lower back. Then the middle and upper back and shoulders and arms when finishing the lift. It's great for football players looking to increase their explosiveness when tackling or trucking

Totally agree with coach. I went to a small school We had a very good football program and an even better power lifting program. We had 11 guys that played ball and lifted in my senior class. No one power cleaned under 250. No one benched less than 250. No one squatted less than 325 ish ( maybe 2-3 guys under 350). We worked out year round and competed in LHSAA power lifting meets. Beat a lot of the big schools in team and individual competition. If you lifted at all, you should be power cleaning well over 315 by your Junior year of college. This is not an accomplishment for a 20 or so year old Major D 1 football player to brag about on social media.
