Jennings is likely to see action as a freshman.

At what position? Or is Rivers not going to do mop-up/cupcake duty?

I've heard Jennings has had some accuracy issues

I've heard the opposite. He is especially accurate on the run.

Very likely. It didn't take long for JJ/JL threads to make Russell/Flynn debates look like child's play.

Talking about the new QB's!
I know Jennings has been getting lots of praise from the fans before showing up at LSU and has been getting good marks from other LSU players due to performance in practice.
But what about Rettig. Haven't heard anything. He was 4/6 in the scrimage and threw 2 td passes! So that looks about as good as can be expected there.

Quite frankly I think a lot of people are jumping the gun on our freshman QB's but CLM started it when he heaped praise on AJ10 at his SP opening press conference. Before that there was a lot of speculation that both AJ10 and HR11 would redshirt this year but be available if needed.

Obviously AJ10 brings the dual threat back in the equation and although he got a lot of praise for it in the scrimmage this past weekend I am concerned that he was tucking and running so much.

The other thing that I think is getting overlooked is Rob Bolden. He was a highly ranked dual threat QB and is out of SP contact drill due to knee surgery. He is running some drills and will be full strength in the Fall Camp.

Despite all of the hype at this point I do not see anyone passing up Mett, Rivers, and Bolden no matter what we see in the spring. When camp opens in August we will see what happens.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that before AJ10 sees the field at QB I think Magee will run some wildcat... JMHO

This is the first I have heard of Jennings' accuracy issues...I thought he was really accurate.

All Rettig does is throw Tight Ends?

I've read it a few times in practice reports from pay sites.
I ment TD's but i am a clumsy typist.

I am just encouraged by the fact that both Rettig and Jennings have had some good moments already. Both are benefitted by being early entry players & the extra practices they get by being able to go through spring football.

It is still pretty early to tell. Maybe the spring game will shed some light, but we'll know even more during fall practices when the entire 2013 squad is there to practice.

Plus, all I was saying in my ignorant comment is LSU is in the South I'd rather see them led by a kid from the South not a kid from Cali.
Well, give back the 2003 National Champioship trophy because Matt Mauck was from Indiana.

Mett's a joke. Let either of them play this year and start building for the future.

Yeah, but in their northern ends, or southern ends?

Rettig has a similar skill set to the QBs ahead of him in the depth chart. He's a pocket passer. Jennings is a dual-threat, and our only one, which means he brings something different to the table that could facilitate him getting earlier playing time than Rettig. It doesn't mean AJ is better, it just means he is suited for certain offensive packages that no one else on the team is suited for. Rettig will be a good QB for LSU most likely, but he is probably going to RS this year, as he should.
