Maybe I am full of crap...but I offered my opinion and feel free to take it as you wish, I also believe in following the rules but there is jaywalking and there is murder one and a lot of rules inbetween.
As for sucking an egg, I have been Vegan for over a year so I am going to have to pass on that one. And what are depends?

These days, the biggest "gateway" is legal prescription drugs. We teach kids(As a society) from an early age that popping a pill is the answer to problems from ADHD and depression medication to pain pills and then act surprised when they self medicate with illegal drugs.

Being Vegan in my case was getting tired of weighing 300 pounds. 150 is much more fun.

Marijuana is fairly cheap, more socially acceptable, doesn't carry a mandatory jail sentence and you don't feel like blowing your brains out when the high is gone. But for some people "addicts" the high from marijuana is just not enough. I guess the difference is recreational pot smoker vs. hardcore drug addict (former recreational pot smoker). Alcohol affects more of the population because is it is legal, socially acceptable, culturally acceptable and propaganda enhances what it can do for you. You crack open a Bud Light and 5 girls in bikinis show up. It really forms a false expectation in the minds of people. If the commercials showed you getting in a wreck and killing a family or being hungover the next morning I think the appeal wouldn't be as strong.

That's a BS study along with many other "studies" that have been done on marijuana. My favorite one was how they determined that weed can cause irreparable brain damage. Too bad when they did the test they strapped a gas mask to a monkey and pumped straight marijunana smoke into it, therefore asphyxiating the monkey Yep that will certainly cause some damage

There are many scientific studies that show that this drug alone is responsible for leading to cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin etc.
There are studies that refute those claims as well.

Marijuana is a gateway drug. Been proven for many years now. Alcohol is also a gateway drug but is socially acceptable and is not illegal. Many people smoke marijuana for recreation but some begin doing other drugs when the marijuana high is not enough. Some people drink alcohol and try cocaine for the first time. Six in one hand and a half a dozen in the other. Both come with their own risks. One is too many and a thousand is never enough for some people.

So true. I see it everyday in the ER. Overdoses in the late 90s were GHB, MDMA and heroin. Most of the time now they are pain pills. Sad story!
