It has hard to beat ANY team twice, much less a Saban coached team with time to prepare.

No Alabama quarterback has played lsu multiple games and not gotten beat by lsu. I don't see how LSU needs to redeem anything against bama.

Only if LSU loses in Nov and gets in the playoff.

zero chance the committee puts a team in that didn't win its division. With a 4-team playoff, one Power5 conference champs already gets left out. If they take two teams from one conference, then two Power5 champs are left out.

It's just not going to happen, absent a very unique circumstance.

Yeah 21-0 is the perfect scenario. I think LSU fans would probably come at Miles with pitchforks if that happened again.

You just can't say things like this unequivocally. What if, instead of us beating Bama in November in '11, we had come out on the wrong end of 9-6 in overtime. Only we lost on the road and had the same exact regular season romp we had that year. That team at 11-1 wouldn't typically be deserving of a spot in the 4-team playoff? What if it's. Weird year where everybody has 2 losses except us and Bama. You putting 2-loss Florida State over that 2011 LSU team?

Rematches should be avoided whenever possible, but not at the expense of basic common sense or fairness.

LSU goes 11-1 and is ranked #1 in every poll. However, we lost to Ole Miss, which is 9-3, ranked 24, but won the west. Ole Miss beats a 10-2 (now 10-3) Tennessee in the SEC Championship. You're telling me LSU should not be in the playoff?!

One criterium: if you're one of the top four teams you're in. All other criteria are invalid.

true, but there will be immense pressure on the committee to not invite a team that didn't even win their division, much less win their conference championship.

So while I agree with you, in theory, I think there's zero chance that a team that doesn't win its division will get a playoff bid. Assuming the conference champ also got an invite, that would mean two Power5 conference champs get left out.

I just don't see it happening with a 4-team playoff format. Now once we go to 8 teams (which I've wanted all along), it will happen every year.

or... maybe the 4 best teams should be in the playoff.

I remember one year when Oklahoma, Colorado and another Big 12 (Nebraska?) were the top 3 in the USA.

should we dismiss the eye test and let the conference champs in, even if they are obviously not in the same level as the SEC W runner-up.

I don't want a rematch with Alabama. It either means we lose to them in November, or they get a second crack at us with a chip on their shoulder. Neither situation is attractive to me.

I mean, I've never seen a team so easily motivated by the slightest snub. Rank them number one and they play average ball, but rank them number two and they get so offended that they beat the hell out of everybody.
I want Bama to be ranked number 1 when we play them in November. That's the only time I wish to meet them next year.

A team that didn't win their division held LSU scoreless and didn't let the Tigers even cross the 50 yard line.

The 2 best teams in the country played in that game.

One HC showed up with his team prepared and ready to play and one didn't..................
