Coogan our Friday night starter in 97 pitched the first regional game that I remember so that's at least one example.

Different format, six team tournament, Coogan was needed again 3 days later.

Try again.

Another dumbfrick, the statement was it's never been done not even by Skip when it has. Try to keep up or at least know what you're talking about.

This statement does not exist in this thread.

No one even paraphrased that it's never been done. But when the new format came around in 1999, Bertman adapted along with the rest of the college baseball world.

I'm the one that even spotted you the one time Skip threw his #1 in this format (99). You brought up a different format which is irrelevant because in those days you knew going in you would probably use your ace twice. In 97 Coogan pitched three times and even Thompson started twice.

You have no idea what you're talking about it, just admit it and move on.

So if we play Monday would you rather have Lange having only thrown lets say 50 pitches Friday or Poche?

I'd rather throw Lange on Saturday as long as he needs to and put the 2/3 team in the hole so we probably don't have to worry about Monday. Are you really this dense?

I think you're underestimating them too much by going that route.

By all objective measures, Texas Southern is not a good team. They've got an overall losing record, an RPI of around 265, and are the fourth best team in the SWAC, which is a terrible league. They're only in this regional because they won their tournament. The only way they should even be competitive in this game is if LSU's bats go ice cold. Throwing Lange or Poche in game 1, given LSU's pitching depth, would be not be wise considering Southeastern and Rice actually have the ability to pull an upset in game 2.

I already did you dumbass. I was told it's never been done not even by Skip all I did was answer that yes it has. It has nothing to do with format.

Just so we're clear - you want to start Lange against Texas Southern?

No you weren't and I even told you when Skip did it. And the format absolutely does matter, if not Skip would have thrown his ace in the first game every year in the new format...but he didn't.

Yes why not? He throws 4 or 5 innings we get a big lead then he's rested in case shite goes bad. There no drop off with Poche Saturday. You keep the players routines and you have Lange for a few innings if needed plus you're almost all but promised a 2-0 short weekend. If you wanna go the other route then you start Walker or Gilbert Friday and save your big guns for tougher circumstances. Makes no sense to start Poche Friday no matter which philosophy you're using.
