I know we were and are still on Franks. I know we have talked about this a lot. Seriously though. If we are going to run a Pro-Style offense then why not go strictly after Pro-Style under the center QB's?

Les likes to take a dual threat guy and turn them into a pocket guy so they can have that extra threat to run. It's a good idea in theory but the execution of it is flawed.

Jefferson
Mettenberger
Jennings

The last 3 QBs before Harris were Pro Style QBs.

For me, a qb that hasn't spent his entire life being the best athlete on the team running the read option with an occasional pass. Add to that, has actually played under center before.
I have no problem with dual threat qb's in college if you are going to use their skill set. But it seems like when we get a qb he is literally starting over learning what Les wants him to do.

Duel Threat guys rarely develop into SEC Championship QB's. Les disagrees.

How many HS QBs fit this mold these days?

Cam, Tebow, and Nick Marshall were all dual threat qb's. I get it different offensive systems but they did win championships. If Les wouldn't have to play guys as true freshman and true sophomores, which is Les's fault as well, it could possibly help too

Tall, strong arm, accurate passer, smart.

Like QBs in the pros.

2014 - Blake Sims, recruited as an "athlete"
2013 - Nick Marshall, "athlete"
2012 - AJ McCarron, pro-style
2011 - JJ/Lee
2010 - Cam Newton, dual-threat
2009 - McElroy, pro-style
2008 - Tim Tebow, dual-threat
2007 - Matt Flynn, pro-style w/Ryan Perrilloux dual-threat winning SEC MVP

seems kinda balanced to me

Oh, I agree. That's why it's so maddening that Les won't adjust. They don't even make qb's to run his offense anymore.

You can go from taking snaps in the shotgun to taking them under center. It's just not immediate.

People act like we recruit triple option QBs. We want big arms, and accuracy. It just doesn't always happen the smaller the Windows get.

Seems like at on the basic level we refer to a QB who can throw, but doesn't run well, a pro style QB. While a guy who can throw AND run, a dual threat. Dual threat doesn't mean good runner and bad passer. In the modern game, you need the ability to do both. BH was under center a lot in high school and put up big numbers. Once he got to college, coaching Needed to take over. But you gotta do it in a way that increases the kids confidence. You don't want him second guessing himself.
