Rebekah Wales -- freshman javelin thrower's debut

I'm aware that women's javelin isn't the most interesting sport, but I felt this was worth mentioning.
In her debut as a Tiger today, she set the all time longest throw at La Tech's campus and 5th longest throw in LSU women's history. Every time she threw, she threw farther. She beat the closest competitor (an LSU teammate) by 14 feet. It was impressive to watch.
"Wales already cracks LSU’s all-time Top 10 list in the event as the No. 5-ranked javelin thrower in school history with her collegiate debut of 166-11, breaking her previous PR of 158-3 that was set during her senior season at West Monroe (La.) High School in 2013".
Today at La Tech
More info on what this young girl achieved in her first week:

That effort moved Wales to the top of the charts in the SEC rankings as the league’s No. 1-ranked javelin thrower for 2014 after the opening weekend of the outdoor season. She also emerged from the competition as the No. 6-ranked javelin thrower in the NCAA among all classifications and the nation’s No. 1-ranked freshman with her debut performance.

That mark tops the SEC rankings by more than 12 feet as Missouri’s Hailey Twietmeyer follows in the No. 2 spot with her season-opener of 154-3.

The 166'11" is the 19th longest throw in NCAA women's history. Not bad for the first time out.

I used to throw javelin and their was a girl from Cedar Creek who could chunk it 150+ plus. Her name was Ashley Aldrege.
Just googled her and her personal best in 2012 was 166 as well. She ended up Norwestern though.. shocker.
