Ran into an A&M fan that thinks our defense will suck without Chavis..

.,you know, since Chavis has been our DC since the dawn of time and won every game for us when he was here. Even in our short Malveto era defense in 2008, we still only gave up 350 ypg on average which is light years better than the 450 A&M gave up last year. I would have been an improvement at DC for them compared to the shite they fielded last season.
It was Pelini's defense in 2007 which Finebaum metaphorically called a 800lb gorilla with a chainsaw for a penis; not Chavis'.
Fans point towards Steele's last game as DC at Clemson as some measuring stick to his abilities as a coordinator, but I can think of several games under Chavis where our defense was flat out embarrassed by others...
Auburn 2010 and 444 yard rushing given up.
Georgia 2013: late game TD drive to lose.
Alabama 2013: run over by Aabama.
Ole Miss 2013: late game FG drive to lose.
Mississippi State last year.
Auburn last year.
All of those defenses had more talent than anything A&M will cobble together under Chavis and it was 500+yards given up to all of those. There are much more but I'm too tired to find more of their new DC's shortcomings.
..and they actually believe that Chavis is some ace recruiter. Hell, Chavis was the worst recruiter, by far, on our staff since he showed up. If they need him to actually land top recruits year in and year out, they will be hurting talent-wise on defense.
Sure, I should be listing these facts out to those ignorant Aggie (redundant) fans, but they are blinded by the sheer shittyness that they have fielded on defense under Sumlin and can't fathom that our talent had much more to do than anything on our defensive dominance all of these years; and none of that was ever Chavis' doing.

Chavis is a great coach.
I'm not a fan of the way he left us and some of the third and Chavis made me aggravated, but he will likely do well at A&M. Move on.
And don't talk to A&M fans. In general, they are weird fricking people.

Alabama 2012
Alabama 2014
Clemson 2013
The list of late game disasters is endless.

the offensive play calling at the end of these games was atrocious.

"Ran into an A&M fan that thinks" - no you didn't.

I don't get the hate. Chavis was a great coach while at LSU.
A&M defense looked better against ASU

A&M's defense looked great against one of the top PAC-12 offenses. Looked like LSU to be honest.

Our defense sucked WITH Chavis.

Chavis is the Hot date that gives you a kiss at the end of the night instead of the vagina.

Don't let Aggy get under your skin like that.
Talking to an Aggy about football is like talking to Scientologist about religion.

For the most part TAMU fans think they are the kings of football although they have not won anything of significance for such a long time. Their most recent conference championships; the mighty Big 12 ONCE in 1998 and the SW Conference 91-93.
Apparently their "limited" success with JFF has made them even more delusional. They have won nothing since joining the SEC and that won't change much any time soon.
Sumlin and Chief are a great pair; lots of swag, tons of trash talk but when the critical moment arrives they just can't get the job done. Maybe they need Viagra?
LSU's defense will be fine without Chief. He is a really good coach but I do not consider him a great coach. His success at LSU was greatly enhanced by the athletes he had. The one year our defense was really gutted, 2013, and our offense was lights out, the defense lost us games. A truly great coach would have made a difference with limited personnel.
Also, the Chief wasn't much for recruiting or linebacker coaching so I say we get better in those areas as well as the DL with Coach O.
And the cherry on top is his lack of character. If he was unhappy at LSU then leave, but be a man about it. The way he did LSU speaks volumes about his character and integrity. He will end his career on the bottom at TAMU and be all but forgotten
in CFB.
This article sums up TAMU.

I honestly didn't think we could be exposed to a more delusional set of fans than Bama fans, and then they took A&M into the west and wow, was I wrong.

I agree with all of this. Chavis is a great coach until there's 2 minutes left and his team is up 6 points.

Everyone's blowing aTm and Chavis right now because of the sack totals. When they face a team who's gonna run it down their throat Garrett and that other DE aren't going to do as well. PAC12 style of play catered exactly to the strength of their defense.

The defense was awful in 2008. Chavis was a massive improvement. I don't get why so many people suddenly act like he can't coach. I'd be ecstatic if I were an a & m fan. Frankly, our fanbase seems like the delusional one in regard to the dc changes. The vast majority of people didn't want Steele and thought there was no way chavis would leave. Steele has a lot to live up to this year.

This year's defense blitzed on the second play from scrimmage, on 2nd down. I don't think a chavis defense has EVER blitzed on 2nd down

The chief was good till the last 2 minutes in any good game. Then He went to the hated PREVENT DEFENSE! Glad he is gone.
