Eventually TAF and Joe have to ask if Les Miles is a long term fit. My answer is no.

Right, the HC who 7 1/2 yrs in leads both BCS and SEC in wins is not a "long term fit".

I can hear Joe now: "Les, 18-2, 10-1, Top 10 ranked NRed since the 7th week of 2010, 3 west titles, 2 SEC titles, 2 BCSNGs, and 5 Top 8 finishes with a current #8 ranking is not a "long term fit" for us at LSU".

Some of this stuff posted here is just toooooo funny for words.

Its a hell of alot easier to win at LSU than at Tn. This is a poor comparison

dude, u honestly dont know your SEC history. Before 2000, Tenn was a much better football program. also, u actuaaly beleive its easier in the same division as alabama, arkansas, auburn, (hisotrically). I'd like to know how u came to this conclusion

No immediate search. Season is not over yet. If we were to lose 4 to 5 of the last 6, he needs a good sit down talk. If for some unbelievabe reason , we follow that dismas finish up with another mediocre season, say 7-5 again, then its time to start looking. Again, I reiterate, no need for immediate change now , not even if we were to go Lord forbid 5-7, but follow that again with the same bologna next year, then my friend it would be time to cut bait. Once again JMO.

I'm talking about on the field coaching ability and ability to make adjustments. Arnsparger was light years head of Miles from that standpoint. And by the way, it was Archer's recruiting that started the downfall. Arnsparger's recruits were responsible for Archer being able to finish #5 in the nation in 1987 and co-SEC champs in 1988. It was after that the wheels came off.

OP- Why would we need a new HC. Is it CLM's fault the attrition rate for LSU this year is ridiculously high??? He enforces the rules and then puts the best players available on the field. He wont let Mett throw until the O-line starts doing it's job efficiently, and the same goes for the WR's. What is his weakness? Playing the best player? JJ was the best QB for the BCSCG last year, more mobile better arm and with the D alabama was playing JL would have been carted off in a body bag. CLM is the best HC for LSU right now. Stud needs to have his head forcibly removed from his arse. Stud isn't recognizing the limitations and strengths of this offense. IMO only Stud needs to speed up the tempo. Everyone has now seen how stacking the box with 6-8 has impacted the run game. Speed it up wear them down and don't let them catch their breath. Fix the O-Co-ord and a lot of on field problems can be resolved.

It was well documented that Arnsburger hated recruiting.

No fricking way! What kills many here is that despite the current debates about offense, his record is stellar and he is a great guy.

I am not ready to cast him aside with a record of 18-2 dating back from last year.

We ride this season out, still win 10-11 games and do an overhaul on the O. You dont get rid of the 2nd best coach in the country. There is no one we can rt now that would be an upgrade. Seriously, i dont want petrino cus he is a pos.

Do you propose a search for a new coach immediately

I think this new coach talk is very damaging to the program. The existing players as well as potential recruits are reading all this negativity. However i believe a change in offensive philosophy needs to happen. The program can still be a stable program without going to the extreme of finding another coach. A new OC perhaps but not a new HC not yet anyway. The program is in too good of shape right now and changing coaches would be devastating to the stability of our program. Hell even Saban lost a few in his last year. We need to support this team more than ever now. We still have a shot. At the end of the year then a change needs to take place on the offensive side of the ball.

And there is the number 1 issue for some people. Miles is here and Saban isn't.

Yes, I definitely agree. Naming Stud as OC was a bad idea in the first place & was doomed to fail.

I am also frustrated with Miles and his stubborness to make changes he deep down probably realizes need to be made--namely a new OC.

Stud must be held equally responsible for the team's horrific offense performance against Fla.

Gary Danielson is a genius at Football your right,

I realize his name never being brought up as OC because he is in broadcasting. I get that. For years past, when LSU needed to adjust, it doesn't. We beat many teams because we can. When our 2 scripted series provides minimal points against equal or near equal talented teams, then we are stuck with plan A.....there is no plan B and we rely on plan A to win the game.

Gary Danielson could be that brilliant mind needed to whisper in CLM's ear about player mismatches or player positioning or formation adjustments or different scheme, and he could provide that on a fly or recognize a pattern.

We lost to penn st because no one recognized Trinden Holiday was the only one on that muddy field with traction.. GD would be the one to recognize little things like this.

I honestly think that Gary would have been that intangible needed to keep LSU on a tremendous win streak.

Do we need a new HC? No.

Do we need a top flight OC? Most definitely.

I don't know why I am so frustrated with Miles, maybe it's because after what all of us saw Saturday and how obvious it is that we have a huge problem on offense, Miles will say we don't have a problem on offense. That means we get see this floundering offense sputter for the next 7 games. We have plenty of money to hire a top OC we need to get the offensive line coach out of the booth.
