As stupid as it sounds, I thought there needed to be an immediate coaching search performed on 1-10-12. Yes, I know that is stupid after an undefeated seasonm but something is not right here.

No adjustments were made and still are not being made when the rest of the league has caught up with LSU's game plan week to week. If this trend continues, we are on the outside looking in again and have no one to blame but the man at the top.

I'm with you on this...though I have my doubts it will ever happen.

You make some good points. It is what it is. We have a coach that can recruit and has the program in great shape. Give him credit for what he's done. And yes, his weaknesses are now glaring. Start a coaching search? Of course not. LSU can't fire this guy. Nor should it. I wish he would retire. Really. I do think someone else could take this program and run a clean program, recruit well, play great defnese, AND have a productive offense.

I posted in a thread about "Does Miles Still Have Detractors in the Fanbase" that I didn't care for him or his coaching.

I was toasted because he was 13-1 last season.

I don't spend enough time browsing through ESPN and Scout to find out who the best replacement would be, but I feel as though something has to change.

He can be the greatest coach in the history of LSU, Charlie Mac was up until Miles. But at some time, that streak may come to an end. Its like a car going down the road missing all but one lug nut. It'll keep cruising, but you know at some time, that wheel is going to come off.

Even though it is easy to bash, I notice that far no one has answered your question about what available coach they would take. The answer is that if we continue with Les, over the next five years, we will probably be better than if we roll the dice with a new guy. Too many variables. Even if we get an offensive mind, who's to say he can recruit the proper athletes or bring in a great DC like Chief?

And for crying out loud, we are #8 in the country. Last year, we steamrolled the Pac-12 champ, the Big East champ, and beat the National Champ.

We are all frustrated and it would be nice to have our injured guys back, but Les can't make OBJ, Shep, and the other receivers catch. Landry and Beckham, if they catch like they are supposed to, would put LSU and Mett in a much better position to win.

Egg,
We need a legit OC who will be permitted to do his job.
I question whether any top filte OC would come to LSU and be second guessed and micro managed by Les.

What facts are more important than 24-6 in the SEC since 2009? Who else exactly could do that? Seriously name a candidate who we could LEGITIMATELY hire.

He has a very good record.. that's not enough to hide behind forever.
Little by little the poor management shows up and bites you... in any business.

Everyone saw his attitude and stubbornness, but justified things as you did with "his record".

A "record is in the PAST tense, he is being paid big bucks in the PRESENT. In any job, last years work will not earn you this year's salary.

Hire a good OC and get the hell out of the way.

Do you propose a search for a new coach immediately?
It is perfectly reasonable to say a guy is a doing a SHITTY ASSED JOB in a particular area and not want him immediately fired.

We are more than 7 years in to the Miles era and we pretty much know what we have in Les Miles.
This is actually my biggest concern. ALL recruits know it too. There isn't a HS QB or WR alive that doesn't know now that playing for Miles is a bad fricking idea. They might've been fooled 4 years ago in recruiting. Not any more they wont be. Anyone who has paid attention to the history of college football knows stuff like that tends to snowball.

quote:

Do you find his weaknesses intolerable and are now ready for someone new and want to begin the search today
I find his weakness something that can possibly spiral out of control to the point that even a good offensive coach would struggle with our talent level. People act like that shite has never happened before in college ball. And yet, the examples are copious.

I still say that Miles career will end much like Coker's where by the time he's done, people will be at a loss to explain the times he succeeded.

I'd like a major change on the OC slot. I bet it'll happen after this season, but there's a reason our offense looks the same every year despite 3 different OC's. Miles.

I think our problems with Miles have been a combination of extreme fringe stubbornness, and horrible timing on losing/injuring personnel. Perriloux, our O-line problems this year, the DC shuffle before Chief, and now the OC shuffle.

I watch Mett, and it really looks like he's fully frustrated out there from the first snap to the last, and I can't say I blame him. He'll be here next year, and if we get an OC that can work with our talent as-is, it'll click.

My Opinion: You can't get rid of Miles when he's winning 9-12 games a year. Especially when we don't know that we could land a better coach. For all of his faults, Les Miles is currently still a top 10 coach.

That said, I think if he continues with this offensive philosophy that we will eventually start to decline. I can't imagine him being able to bring in a good QB or WRs with the offensive philosophy he has. Eventually, QBs and WRs are going to stop believing the lies (see the rookie WR for the Giants).

The sad part for us fans, is we could be in store for another 10+ years of winning 9+ games but not winning championships. And, while it is better than the alternative of the 90s and losing seasons, it sucks watching Bama dominate.

Was anyone here for the 20 years prior to Saban? I remember praying we could break into the top 10.
Means absolutley nothing at this point. Zilch, nada, zero.

Other than Saban who is better you morons?
No one; and people really wanting Miles fired are morons. They really think any goober could lead us to the BCS every year, because we are just that awesome, and Miles is holding the team back.

And for crying out loud, we started off the season ranked #1, dropped to #2, then #3, and now #8. What happens after Saturday night? As far as steamrolling those teams, yes, LSU did that last season. But that was last season. This team is clearly not last year's team. And with all that goodness and light of being #1 and unbeaten going into the BCS championship game, we got steamrolled there by a team (UA) that we had already beaten. And now again by UF, a team ranked lower that we were at the time.

We need to then allow Monken to allow Miles to make some suggestions on a new OL Coach. Then we'll allow Monken his own input & suggest candidates. Pare them down giving Monken ultimate signoff authority w/the olive branch to Miles that he can be in the room during the interview.

The hire belongs to Monken.

Good gosh. You are ready to give over full authority to a guy who you obviously know nothing about. The man has never coached qbs in his life.
