If it meant that Miles should stay to pull in the recruiting class would those that want him gone change their tune? Or would you rather have a new coach at the risk of losing the players we want?

I think I'm close to my breaking point and the reason I haven't fully reached it is because of the talent we want to potentially pull in.

I understand that we go through this cycle every year and that our issue is coaching not talent, but the recruits also buy in to the coaching staff that is present.

So recap:

1) keep Miles to get recruits
2) let Miles go and lose recruits

Just a hypothetical

That's what I'm hung up on, the potential recruits we may lose, but that's why kids commit to the school and not the coach

Miles not only ties into the recruiting staff but he's responsible for keeping the coaching staff together. If Miles leaves we have no idea what Wilson, Orgeron, Steele, Raymond, etc will want to do. The head coach matters a ton in recruiting.

Other than CEO, Raymond, and Wilson who else would you want to keep

There's other support staff members that are crucial.

Thats why I want him one more year. Bringing in a new coach one year before our "peak" will do nothing but bad. If you can keep Miles through 2016, I'm all for letting him go after that. Not only will this year has the potential to be the best recruiting class we have ever had, but the team is loaded with sophomores/juniors about to become juniors/seniors. Blow your chances at the playoffs next year just so you might be better down the road? Doesn't make sense to me unless this team loses out and completely gives up.

Get a new coach that actually knows one side of the football and move forward. We would lose some recruits but it wouldn't be that bad.

Wilson to a sec west school would mean Wilson and saban would carve up over half the top 10 recruits in la. every year. no hc hire would be able to stop that from happening.

Miles will be here until Fournette leaves.

I would turn the question around and ask: Who cares if we get the recruits we want if the coaching staff has the inability to maximize their potential?

I would rather lose a few recruits and get a coach who can actually coach up the players we do get than get the best recruits only to continue watching the coaches fail them in the biggest moments.

Problem is that we have absolutely no reason to believe Miles wont waste all the talent and blow those same playoff chances.

I'm sick of playing this delusional great recruiting class game.
Yes CLM brings in highly ranked recruits.
No he does not fill all the needed gaps.
And No, these recruits are not coached up to the next level.
And so Yes we see some regress, some transfer, some fizzle, and most underachieve.

Take the chance and pull the plug.

There are other HCs who can and do recruit well enough, who also know the importance of coaching these guys into SEC levels of achievement, and on a regular basis, they do.

What am sure of is the status quo, this coaching staff and team, is stagnant.

if miles and Wilson leave, we will lose more than a few recruits. maybe some transfers also.

So what?

Is that a reason to keep doing what we've been doing? Cuz it aint working.

Yes, many of us realize that if Miles leaves, we may take a hit in recruiting. But that can be rebuilt as long as the program isn't in complete shambles by the time Miles retires.

You're missing the point. This recruiting class is more crucial than many in the past. If LSU misses on this class you can say goodbye to being competitive in the SEC for 2 or 3 years.

We don't know that.

First, the right coach may convince a lot of these guys to still come to LSU.

Second, even if we lose some, the right coach may very well maximize the talent we do have and win the SECW, SEC and get in the playoff.

The whole attitude that we need to keep Miles because things may fall apart if he leaves screams of cowardice to me.

What Miles has been doing isn't working. What makes you think signing these mythical great recruits will change that.

Hell, Miles basically single handedly torpedoed LF's Heisman hopes. Why do you think he will do any better with Franks and the other guys he is recruiting?

All these hypothetical questions depend on who the new coach would be.

That's a fallacy. Kids commit to the coach more than the school.

How is that different from now?
