First, the right coach may convince a lot of these guys to still come to LSU.

Too big of a risk to take with the rest of the staff potentially falling apart.

Second, even if we lose some, the right coach may very well maximize the talent we do have and win the SECW, SEC and get in the playoff.

The defense is what needs to be supplemented. OC is gone after this year.

The whole attitude that we need to keep Miles because things may fall apart if he leaves screams of cowardice to me.

Cowardice? How about minimizing risk while maximizing potential?

What Miles has been doing isn't working. What makes you think signing these mythical great recruits will change that.

LSU's recruiting on the defensive side of the ball hasn't been this good in a very long time. Steele and Orgeron have put a recruiting plan in place and are recruiting to that plan. A HC change could completely ruin that.

Hell, Miles basically single handedly torpedoed LF's Heisman hopes. Why do you think he will do any better with Franks and the other guys he is recruiting?

The OL torpedoed LF's heisman hopes. Miles can't play OL anymore. Franks is a future QB who fits well into a pro-style system. We can't project that Miles will squander his talent. The OC is probably gone anyway so Franks might be gone as well.

How is that different from now?

That's what I'm saying. Right now things look dire. That's why this recruiting class matters a whole lot.

That's what I'm hung up on, the potential recruits we may lose, but that's why kids commit to the school and not the coach

You really believe kids commit to Bama for the school and not Nick?

No. You are. Every class is touted as the most crucial to LSU's future success. Then.... underachieving strikes again.

Have you ever considered the twin legends of the search for the fountain of youth, and the search for the holy grail?

but if the coaches cant get anythign out of the recruits (which they dont) then what does it matter? there is always a must have recruiting class, Its a never ending cycle, at some point you just have to jump off, hope for the best landing and reset

It is also a huge risk to continue to do what obviously isn't working.

But we are not even close to maximizing potential now. Recruits see that and may choose to go elsewhere.

You can say basically the same thing every year as an excuse not to change.

I fully acknowledge that recruiting may take a hit if Miles steps down. But it will take a hit whenever he does. Why wait. It's unlikely that these guys will come in and make that big of a difference as freshmen anyway. Lets stop wasting the talent we actually HAVE in order to sign nothing but POTENTIAL. Especially when that potential will be wasted by the current coach.

Franks is going to FL. The losing, poor coaching and being the laughingstock of college football will cost us more recruits than Mikes leaving ever will

This is a legit concern that some are discounting.

Yes, if Miles goes some recruits may not come here. But what if he stays and these guys say no way am I playing in that system.

Then we are even worse off. Time to just rip the bandaid off and go from there.

And that is different from the last 3 years how?
