The records may not indicate we're down, but the games seem a hell of a lot less enjoyable/more frustrating.

I have been saying Alleva was a bad hire. He has a way of opening his mouth about a coach or sport in midseason which brings nothing positive to the situation. He said something about the basketball season being a bust durning the season. I'm sure that improved the morale of the team. Look what he did to Miles. IMO he is a poor leader and brings negativity with him. Look at his face. It's not the face of a happy person. He looks very angry.

But, back to the question. Say what you want about the baseball team, Mainieri is a good coach...not a great coach. Last year is a perfect example. You get to Omaha with a great club and fall flat on your face. It's as if he's just glad they made it there. This year has been the most &$@#ed up season. The guy is still trying to figure out what to do. It's MAY not March--figure it out already.

Regardless of any stats you throw at me, IMO we are worse off under Alleva.we should have left him back at Duke with the lacross team....

Yes, he's a better decorator than athletic director.

Our regressions started when we made that tight fisted Jew our athletic director and he let Nick Saban slip away to the 'phins.

Basketball is where its always been. The Average Wins per season over the last 50 years is 16. Basketball won 19 games which is 3 over the Average for the last 50 years. No NC's the last 50 years after having Pete, Shaq, etc. Basketball is where it will always be!

Great post. I forget just how dominant we were from 2000-2007.

Not that it matters but I'd put 5 10 win seasons with an * for 08-15. You cancel a mcneese type game in any "10 win" season and you'd only have 9. Whether we were disappointed in how we lost we did only lose 3 games all season against the meat of our schedule. The same as any other 10 win season without an SECCG appearance.

Every other sub 10 win team since 2000 dropped at least 4 games during the meat of their schedule and bowl game. I don't think it's fair to classify last years team with them just because a non FBS warmup game was cancelled.

I'm glad he is not a friend of Miles, Miles got fat and lazy and needs to work harder. And Miles and the football program are not the same thing, Miles could be gone at the end of the season but the football team is going to always be here.

I agree with these points.

Not trying to defend Johnny Jones, but Alleva's comments about the basketball team not being worthy, when he made them, were inappropriate. I think, in theory, we still could have gone on a run and won the regular season SEC title, if I remember the dates right... wasn't that right before the Tennessee and Arkansas losses? Win those 2, and the Kentucky game is for outright; lose and you still have a share of the title (and 2-2 vs the other two teams). We'd have been dancing for sure.

Miles and the football team- seemed like Miles had more control over who he brought in as assistants, prior to Alleva... until now. Miles had brought in some big names, then Steele felt like an accounting hire, and really Kragthorpe did too. Cameron seemed almost like Miles had to call in for help, and draw a line in the sand with the AD in the process. In comparison, Aranda and Craig feel a lot more like Miles said "I need ____, _____, and _____ if you want me to win", and they went out and did it.

As for what happened last season with the rumors, that was completely bullshite. I don't care if you hate Miles and want him gone, you don't let things go like that with your coach. Either publicly support him, or fire him. There are plenty of other jobs as good as LSU, and if you're a potential hire, you're going to take that into account- you know going in that if things get hot, Alleva will hang you out to dry.

Seems like Alleva didn't learn anything from the Duke Lacrosse scandal, and how that went down.

Football team is set to make a run and probably will. Granted Alleva has hurt Miles and the football team with his stupid antics. Alleva is responsible for Chavis leaving by trying to put in the Les Miles clause. Then when Miles wanted to hire Aranda LAST YEAR it was Alleva who once again blocked the hire with the same Les Miles clause. Aranda said no thanks and stayed in Wisconsin. Miles had to settle for Steele. One year later when Alleva embarassed LSU with his shananigans with Jimbo Fisher and then had to wipe egg off his face, Miles hired Aranda when Alleva left out the Les Miles clause. Alleva has caused a lot of headache for Miles and is not a friend of the Football program.

Baseball is replacing 8 position starters and anyone with a damn pea for a brain knew this was going to be a rebuilding year for baseball and I don't think anything going on there is Alleva's fault.

Basketball is just in the same rut it has been in since Dale Brown was allowed to stay on about 4 years too long by Joe Dean. Dean deserves much of the credit for the demise of LSU Basketball. Joe Dean was the worst LSU AD in the last 50 years.

Overall LSU athletics is still very strong but I understand the frustration some of you feel.

Why not include Track & Field in the list? Don't say because it isn't major.
LSU Track has produced more national & sec championships in just 3 decades than all of our other sports, combined all time.
