2012 Johnny Manziel
2013 Nick Marshall, Trevor Knight
2014 Bo Wallace, Cardale Jones
2015 Chad Kelly

(Additionally, 2014 Marshall, 2013 Manziel, and 2015 DeShaun Watson all scored 40+ but lost)

So...

What types of QB's should LSU be recruiting?

Good ones.

In fact, all of the quarterbacks listed also lost to Alabama with the exception of Cardale Jones. None have better than a .500 record.

And how many are in the NFL?

Our penis envy of Bama is getting absurd.

Jamies Winston and Cam Newton are the only QB's to win a championship other than Bama and Cardale Jones the last 6 years. So do you mean unless you have the number 1 overall pick, NFL starter from day one just give up?

competent (preferably elite) passers, first and foremost. if they can run, all the better.

Johnny Manziel and Chad Kelly both beat bama on fluke plays. The rest were legit.

Fun fact about Cardale, he never started an entire season as a collegiate player.

Also, if we go back just a bit to 2011, we see Jordan Jefferson/Jarrett Lee as quarterbacks who beat Saban. Pants ON [OFF]. Sign them boys up!

I dont really remember the Manziel Bama game but Ole Miss and Chad Kelly outplayed Bama basically from the start of the game so to say it was just one fluke reception or play is BS IMO.

This. I would like to see our focus shift away from dual threat QBs who aren't really a threat at running or throwing. I'd like to see us target QBs who can complete a pass without it looking like some miraculous play. If the guy can run, great. If not, oh well.

Bama has not lost to a "pro-style" QB or pro-style offense since 2011 when we won 9-6. And JJ came in running the speed option which accounted for some yards. The only formula to beating them is tempo and the ability to extend plays at QB. And a great defense.

a mobile QB helps, but IMO you beat ALA by neutralizing the point of attack

LSU needs 2 and 3 deep linemen (both offense and defense) that are just as big, physical, and hungry.

at times our 1st string has matched up well vs. ALA but the lack of depth and executing for 60 minutes was LSU's Achilles heel.

ALA's defense is very similar to an NFL defense because of their depth. Certain players like Tim Williams (pass rushing specialist) only play on situational down and distance. Imagine how many sacks Arden Key would have if he only played on 3rd and long and not chasing the QB for 70 plays a game

I think he means the second time ole miss beat bama. the game at Tuscaloosa. the "shouldn't have thrown it up for grabs but I did and it deflected off a helmet into the waiting arms of my guy who ran it in for a td" pass. manziel ran into a dude, bobbled the ball, but had the wherewithal to grasp it, recollect himself, and throw a td to a wide open ryan swope. sometimes dudes make "lucky" plays based off skill. love him or hate him, manziel was the shite in college.

While OPs data set appears compelling, it's actually too small a data set.

Not saying don't get dual threat guys. Just saying you can't make definitive conclusions.
