QB play doesn't always get better with experience

I am reading a ton of people assuming that Harris will clearly and certainly be improved since he'll have more experience yet completely forget about another QB that was in a similar position in 2010.

Jefferson was a sophomore QB coming off an even better year statistically than Harris after the 2009 season. What happened the next year after all his SEC and game experience the previous year or so?

A regular season line of:
4 TDs, 9 INTs, 57%, 1253 yards, 6.6 YPA

After his great game against A&M in the Cotton Bowl, he was still:
7 TDs, 10 INTs, 57% 1411 yards, 6.8 YPA

So just because someone has more experience does not equal better performance.

The one thing going for LSU is the belief that Cameron is a much better QB coach than Crowton in college, but even that hasn't been proven with both showing great strides with a RS-SR their first year and nearly nothing outside of that.

Hopefully Harris has figured it out and his injury will have healed well, but assuming next year is assured for Harris to be better is ignorant of LSU's recent history.

I'll bet any amount of money that Harris has a better junior year than Jefferson.

For every case of regression, one could easily respond with multiple cases of progression. Quit being a Debbie downer and suck that tiger dick bitch.

I think you're on to something. We should start a freshman QB every year. We need to get them playing before that regression sets in.

1) Wouldn't take much to do that.

2) God, I hope so, because I like Harris and love LSU, and want to see both succeed.

Just that people need to understand that time and experience don't always make you better, and we haven't seen consistent QB play in a while, which goes back to coaching and recruiting.

Here's to hoping Junior year for Harris is a great one.

Experience makes you better. That may not show up in the stat lines because of the team around you, but you'll get better with experience.

Jefferson was an exception and not in a good way. Plus that whole 4 year stretch was a disaster with jumping back and forth between QBs. It's hard to draw any sort of lesson or results for comparison.

Harris is better than Jefferson and I think he'll improve a great deal next year.

There's always an exception to every rule. Can you tell me another quarterback at LSU who didn't show improvement with playing time?
I believe that most objective people would agree that Russell, Flynn, Lee, and Mett all got better with experience.

While there might be no certainty, the odds clearly are in favor of Harris showing some improvement.

What's so wrong in thinking that Harris can improve from his true sophomore season that he played the last third of with the injury that required surgery?
