I hear you, Stout .. I do .. Not being contrarian.. Just trying to inject reason here .. You and I both know this will never happen, and before people start castrating LSU for not doing it, I am pointing out some of the reasoning .. I could just as easily accuse you of playing "follow the leader" and grandstanding here as you do claiming I am trying to be "contrarian" .. Come on .. I am not diminishing the poor child .. I posted my condolences in the stickied thread .. I'm offering awareness of the reality that is the pain many other parents have felt ..

I am not trying to grandstand in this thread or any other about Sid as that would be in extremely poor taste just like it is of you to take it upon yourself to "inject some reason"

No one will bash LSU for not doing it as people already know it's an NCAA rule and not on LSU.

Your stance is now well noted. Just leave it be for a change.

We should absolutely "sensationalize" this kid.

He was a sensational kid.

Personally I've been touched by a child having bone cancer and dying, it was a brutal painful death.

I'm on the fence about having a Sid sticker on the helmets. What I'd really like to see is a Sid sticker like many people's avatars are now for sale($5-10) with the proceeds going in Sid's name to St Jude's childhood cancer research fund that IMO would both honor Sid & do some good for others. Seems to me Sid was the type of person who would smile at that. I know I'd buy at least one or two for my vehicles.

RIP Sid

I agree if he had not been such a fan! LSU meant so much to him.

LSU softball had helmet stickers of a big donor and fan who passed away on their helmets last year. I see no problem to put the young man's initials on the helmets if that is what the team wants to do.

Ultimately it doesn't freaking matter what you all think. If the team wants it and it's allowed, it will be done. So it's time to quit the bitching about it.

This.

It sucks, but I can't help wondering why does he get all of this attention. I doubt he was the first child LSU fan to die of cancer way too young.

So why do they get ignored completely but Sid gets a helmet sticker?

Edit: Nevermind, just saw someone else made this point.

And it's a stupid and incredibly insensitive point. The Birmingham community decided to show support for Sid, an LSU fan, by decorating the neighborhood in purple and gold. Social media picked up on it, and many people were touched by the beautiful struggle and support for this amazing young man. The cause grew into what we've all been fortunate to witness these past months. Yet some of you idiots somehow feel compelled to argue that Sid's story isn't worthy of the attention because, sadly, other families have suffered the same fate without the same attention. If you are in this camp, you are a pathetic person.

There was a high school kid that drowned while duck hunting in Ga. A few years back. Richt had him added as an honorary member for the year after. Maybe LSU can do something like that.

Seems the sticker thing isn't going to happen.

Alternate 1: next home game, start of 4th qtr, instead of L S U chant, S I D chant. One time only.

Alternate 2: frick Birmingham and the NCAA, name all 85 players (or 70 in the case of this coming weekend) "adjunct Sports Information Directors" as a student worker. Then identify them with a sticker.

Yes, I get those that singling out Sid is too much and there are many that have gone through the same. But the Staff and Team have rallied to this kid (and his family). He lives in enemy territory and is tried and true P&G (kudos to town for flying P&G ribbons and other things too). To some degree he represents all the lost young Tigers. I'm ok with that viewpoint personally.

Yes, that's why I think it's not just ok, but good to do something for Sid in addition to the team wanting it. Rallying point that some good might come out of it. And I do think this is in the works, waiting for I think it was TydeFan to give us some addresses/link/phone number to purchase.

Would be great if the team can wear the stickers. If not, would still be nice if many of the fans can wear them. I plan on wearing one to the game.

We don't need stickers on the helmets etc.

The players will take it upon themselves to pick up a black sharpy and write messages on their tape and cleats for Sid.

1. it's more personal which means something.

2. you don't set any precedent for the future

3. LSU doesn't need to take the time to kiss the SEC and NCAA's arse to get permission.
