I agree. Coach and the team should announce that they are playing the Al. game to honor the memory of Sid. The freaking NCAA or SEC can't stop that! Win this for
Sid and Tiger Nation! RIP Sid.

I hope all of the fans here channel this energy to the many many other kids who are tiger fans also fighting cancer. For every Sid, there are countless others.

Exactly. It's what Les Miles does when no one is looking that makes him our fearless leader.

No need to put stickers, ya'll. it would be a great gesture; but maybe a little tacky.

Les will remind the players of Sid minutes before they take the field. In his own way, alone with his team.

But you can bet your hard earned dollar; we will play for Sid at BDS and we will play for Sid and play for victory!

RIP young man

Plenty of young Tiger fans have died recently, I'm sure. Sid's a sad story .. But what makes him any more important than any of the others ? I had a friend who lost his 12 year old son back in August .. The poor child was a massive Tiger fan .. Sid is no more important than him .. Sad, but true ..

I think any loss of a child's life is significant. I don't care whose child it is. It's still the loss of a child; and I've cried 3 times today.

Being a single dad and thinking what these parents have to go through kills me inside.

God exists in this LSU community today. What those parents feel from us today is a direct reflection of what we are molded in the place of.

Humans helping humans.

God bless their family and for all of those who lost loved ones.

I wonder if an OT baller knows how to get a towable plane banner with "Geaux Sid" on it for Tuscaloosa.

I think that's why this has been so confusing for me

My son lost his bff at 13 to cancer. I was also very close to his mom and sister. It was heartbreaking. He was a trooper and the mom and sister are two of the most kind-hearted people I know. Also lsu fans

I've teared up reading this story as well. But I don't understand the reasoning behind Sid being exalted as he has here. There are children dying from cancer every day

The first time I remember hearing about Sid was when he came to the Auburn game. He may have been in media before, but I hadn't noticed. I think the story picked up steam on here when Will Cover kept the Rant updated on his status, introducing more people to Sid's story, and it grew from there.

You're right, children die every day. Before the thread got deleted, I posted that we lost our infant daughter to meningitis almost 40 years ago.

Hell. I'm 68 years old. I suspect I'm on a pretty short leash.

Why did Sid get the attention on this board? My thoughts. He was a LSU fan and Les did a super job of bringing his story to light.

I'm sorry that any child has to die. But don't criticize us if we choose to honor Sid in the manner that we have.

It's ESPN .. He came to the LSU-Auburn game and CLM kindly rolled out the red carpet for him and his family. It was obviously well-deserved .. People on here seem to lose perspective on a regular basis .. When sports meets real life, people tend to overreact and act silly ... Hundreds, if not thousands of young Tiger fans have probably died way too early over the last 5 to 10 years .. Sid is no more or less significant than any of them -- people just know his story because of TV ..

I'm sorry for your loss

I certainly appreciate the outpouring of love and support for Sid. He was a great kid by all accounts and touched a lot of lives. And I know personally how much that means to his family

It's just that the stuff like Alabama and lsu should just violate ncaa rules and wear the stickers on their helmets and take the fine; or make up a fake position at lsu and hire Sid, doesn't make sense

Rag, this isn't the thread to pull your contrarian act in IMO. Let people make suggestions and just leave them be. While you're right that many young Tiger fans are lost every year, Sid's story made headlines and touched a lot of people. That doesn't diminish the loss of any other young Tiger. Every now and then something like this happens and it serves as a reminder to others what's truly important in life. Just leave it at that and quit trying to prove a point.

Anyone remember Devon Gales? UGA players put his number on their helmets to honor the young man. Yet, he wasn't a member of the UGA team.

Thank you.

Personally, I'm not that hung up on the helmet decal. It would be great to wear it, but I understand if the SEC and/or NCAA say no.

I would like for LSU to honor Sid and his family prior to the Ark game. Pass out Sid boards to fans as they enter the game. Present the family with a game ball after we beat the Hogs.

Rejecting the idea of honoring Sid's life/death just because there are infinite similar situations and it's difficult to ascertain its parameters is fallacious at best, in my opinion. It ignores the unique circumstances surrounding Sid's life and death.

I don't think any person would walk up to a parent and say to them their child's death isn't special because other children die of cancer. They are all unique. They may share one element, childhood cancer, but that element doesn't render the multitudes of differences among the cases insignificant.
