You're probably right. I just remember how uncomfortable it was to watch him shoot freethrows towards the end of his career

Chris Jackson is 100% responsible for my being an LSU fan at all up here in New England.

Some athletes become legends later looking back at what was done. CJ became a legend in his first season.

Steph Curry is NOT better.
CJ is my alltime favorite lsu player but Steph Curry as a nba player is better than CJ ever was and thats not a knock on CJ. Steph Curry is the greatest shooter of all time.

It was a beautiful thing. Going to the Deaf Dome was an event. I tell people all the time he was the best I ever saw. I was there from '86-'90, a great time for LSU basketball.

Yeah, CJ vs. Gerald Glass at Ole Miss was the most awesome display of two superstars going back and forth that I've ever seen. Never really seen anything like it and I'm not exagerrating.

Gill, A Chicago native, had played against Michael Jordan during the summers. He is quoted as saying Jackson had a quicker off-step and dribble.
There are thousands of kids that never played college basketball that are quicker than 6'6" Michael Jordan. No one would say that MJ was quicker than Chris Jackson.

At LSU? Yes, he was better.
Anybody who says this wasn't old enough to see it or has Alzheimer's. Ask Shaq who the star of that team was. He will say CJ without hesitation.

he had 13 points against ga tech cuz he had the flu. We would have defintiely won the next game, had we beaten that talented tech team w scott, olliver etc.. we were freaking loaded that year. Thought we would win it all

CJ is the best college basketball player I have ever seen. Damn my childhood was great!

People who saw Buddy Hield bring Oklahoma back against LSU last season- that shooting display he did at the end, all those 3's, that was an average to slightly subpar game by Chris Jackson standards. You got that and more, basically every single game of his career.
It was a multitude of factors that he showed; he was quicker than everyone else out there, not even a contest. And he could put the ball in the hole... he sometimes focused on 3's, but he'd often drive to just inside the lane and bank in a 14 ft shot off the glass like it was a layup. He could have made that shot whenever he wanted to, it just seemed like he wanted something more.
And then, the hops- he'd take alley-oops and dunk them, not what you expected from a skinny 6 ft kid.
I've read that the meds he took for his Tourette's slowed him down and made him gain weight, and I think his heart wasn't into it by the time he went to the NBA.

Love CJ. Saw him play so many times in college and a couple in the pros. The TS screwed him up and NBA players caught on to him. His illness forced him to do the same move or move set at least twice in a row. That gave them the defensive advantage and he lost his magical step and quickness. Talked to a few ex players in Houston - who he used to kill while with the Nuggets and they said that's what happened to him. Take it FWIW. That wasn't my opinion.

You probably never had the chance to see Pete Maravich, but he was the best ever in college IMO. 6' 5" point guard in 1969, 10 years before Magic Johnson at Michigan State. His dribbling, ball control, passing--none better. He is known for his scoring, and he scored more in 3 years than anyone has in 4 years (freshman were not eligible to play varsity ball in those days, so his freshman numbers were not counted). He has scoring records that will never be broken, because anyone good enough today will go pro after their sophomore year. Pete didn't have that option.

CJ was a phenom until the tourney his final year. Obviously, agents had gotten a hold of him and his play just sucked in those 2 games...13 in both, I believe
Not true. Chris Jackson had a severe respiratory infection and was subpar against Georgia Tech who featured three future NBA players.
