At LSU? Yes, he was better.

Shaq was not better than Chris Jackson in college. He was pretty good, but not fully formed until he got to the pros

I was too young to really understand his greatness in college ,but my brother In law also claims he's the best college basketball player he's ever seen. I trust his judgment as well.

I was a kid, but those teams were awesome to watch. I still have a Chris Jackson autographed tshirt from the late 80s.

I'll agree that Chris Jackson became very strange when he converted to Islam
But, I think Parkinson's Disease is what really messed him up

CJ was the best college BB player next to Pete Maravich.

CJ's best game was his first if I am not mistaken, LSU played La. Tech who had Randy White as their star. Both had over 50 points or so & it was back & forth all nite long. His other game that I remember well was when LSU went to Fla. & he put up another 50 or so, to the extent the gator student body was standing the whole game & going crazy with him.

Agreed, Chris Jackson was by far the better, more polished collegiate basketballer

You're really showing how young an dumb you really are.
Posted on 12/21/16 at 5:09 pm to Tiger in NY
Yep CJ was Iverson and Curry before their time. Best college basketball player I've ever seen either. Shaq was great but he was nowhere near CJ in college

I think you misunderstood.
Chris was better than Shaq at LSU.

What???? I bet you never even saw either play at LSU.....

Yeah, he had Tourette's. If I recall, he took medication and then maybe (?) a different medication during his NBA career that caused him to gain some weight.
He had some aspects of OCD, which would require him to over practice his shooting. For example, he wouldn't let himself quit on certain shooting drills until he made from each location. Then, apparently the ball had to swish through the net exactly as he wanted. I recall reading that he would make hundreds of free throws in a row without missing.
During his two years at LSU, we wanted him to shoot as much as possible (similar to Pete's LSU years). He had free range to improvise as much as he liked. He was so quick that he could get shots at will and usually make them at a pretty good rate. More than anything, he had a really fun type of game to watch. Smooth, electric, and a high degree of difficulty at times.
I was only about 12 when he went off for 53 against Florida (ESPN?) and at my grandparent's house.

Chris was better in the college game, without a doubt. Something did mess up his mind in the pros. His refusal to stand for the national anthem ended his NBA career.

I was at the Vanderbilt game in Nashville when Jackson dropped 46. It was spectacular.

Greatest varsity freshman for sure.
Only KD really comes close.

I know I sound crazy, but I I were putting together an LSU All-time Starting 5, I would have Ethan Martin as my Point Guard.
