Yes, it could be your internet speed. I had 3Mb/sec download speed and WatchESPN buffered a lot. I now have 9 Mb/sec download speed and I have no problem. If you watch You Tube videos and they stop and buffer periodically, that is likely your problem.

WatchESPN is a streaming application requiring high bandwith (internet speed). Also, if your computer is over five years old or so and you have Windows XP, you will likely have problems.

If you are viewing over a wireless network in your home through a router, you can get faster speeds by hooking up directly to your router via an ethernet cable.

Last but not least you need quite a bid of memory on your PC, probably no less than 4 GB.

The more current your PC, your network router, and your internet provider, the more successful you will be.

Good luck! With the right equipment, watching WatchESPN is almost as good as watching it on TV!

I know you're trying to be helpful, but you posted a lot of misinformation. People are going to read this and think you know what you're talking about - then use that as fact to pass on to others.

Not misinformation! I do know what I am talking about. It is general info. That is the only way to address the issue without knowing the details of the OP's setup.

Knowing the things that can cause problems when streaming video can hopefully help others as well.

I will qualify that this is applicable to a PC environment, not phones or tablets.

I watch with Roku and cox and I have the same issue. Only a couple of times a game so it doesn't really bother me. It only does it with the ESPN app though.

I am not going to argue with you. I am stating that some of the information you posted is not really accurate.

E.g. switching from wireless to wired is going to make WatchESPN stream faster. The only thing switching to wired would accomplish is possibly reducing latency. If he has a 9Mbps internet connection like you said you have, plugging into a 100Mbps/1Gbps/10Gbps switch port isn't going to make the 9Mbps internet faster. Even if he is running 802.11g wireless he should be getting minimum 20Mpbs (up to 54Mbps). The only advantage is wired will run at full-duplex while wireless at half-duplex. But that's really not going to affect his streaming.

This is more of a discussion for the Tech Board and you will get at least 4-5 more CCNP or higher Network Engineers to help you.

My only point to posting this is because I could imagine someone scrambling to upgrade their OS, RAM, Router, plugging into a switch port all to stream WatchESPN based on your advice.
