Happy for Boone. Great time! I hope he gets picked up somewhere. Also great times for Juice and Hill. Both silenced any doubts that remained.

Yeah... because being on a camp roster as a rookie is such a high paying and secure job. Camp roster pay is $925 per week for rookies. And they can be cut whenever.
Did you think he wouldnt at least get a shot during camp? 90 guys start out on the roster for 32 teams. Thats 2,880 players getting a shot. A lot of players get camp opportunities. Pretty much any player that sees some PT from a big time football school with get a chance.

So why can't people say, "Well he had that fast time, but it might be a fluke." ?
Because combine time is laser time. Pro day is hand held stop watch time. You have it completely backwards. If anything, pro day times are the fluke times.

Are these hand or laser timed?
Don't think so. Combine time is usually more accurate. Lots of guys shave .1 off their pro day times.

While that is true, you also normally have about 10-30 different stop watches on a guy. Each scout/coach runs their own stopwatch and gets a time. They usually check against a few other watches to make sure theirs wasnt totally off, so it isnt a totally bogus number, but typically a smidge faster than lasers.

Irregardless of which is faster, why is a one run sample size better than a 2-3 run sample size?

Regardless how many stop watches they use, laser time is exact. Hand time isnt. And some people improve their pro day 40 yard time more than just a smidge.
Dude, they run 2x at the combine and at the pro day. The sample size is the same.

And he was more productive than Boone was.
That's debatable. Don't have time to look up the stats right now. But I'm pretty sure Boone had more TDs than Shep during his career at LSU.

Agree. I wouldn't totally disregard a pro day time as totally botched, but I would take it with a grain of salt. All teams want to see is that the time passes their "standard", then they flip on the film. Juice and Hill should be just fine.

Its not debatable. I looked at the stats when I said that.
Boone - 44 catches for 611 yards and 8 TDs.
Shep - 58 catches for 570 yards and 5 TDs. 104 carries for 686 yards and 5 TDs. So 162 touches, 1,256 yards and 10 TDs.

I did not realize Boone was that fast. He had some bright moments, but kind of hard to shine when you are playing behind OBJ and Landry.
Yeah, Boone was a very effective #3WR in 2012. Remember the diving TD at TAMU? That shite was nanas!

Also, does anybody know if he is trying out as something other than a QB?
I hope he's been practicing catching the ball. With that height and speed, he could probably work his way from practice squad to at least a shot at offense if not defense or special teams. Saw him lay some licks in his time.

Damn - JJ can scoot!! Poor dude was just playing out of position at LSU.
I said last year that he should focus on moving to WR. He was never going to make it at QB in the NFL but physically he is an attractive specimen at 6'5', 200+lbs, and good forty speed. Obviously he had other aspirations. Wish him luck.

Jarvis ran 10 pounds lighter and healthier so Id say his time is accurate probably early 4.6 on laser this time around.
