After a couple of days to calm down, I'm okay with the call on 2nd down. Clemson had been putting 9 in the box and stuffing short yardage plays all night. On the final series, with the game on the line, Miles was NOT stubborn-- he didn't call a play that hadn't worked all game long. Instead, he called what should have been a pretty easy play for the QB to make, and Landry was wide open.
3rd down is open to debate, but objectively, I still have to look at the entire progression of the game. Clemson was overloading the box and LSU was not making short-yardage runs, all game long.
Losing the game makes everyone pissed and surly, but the bitching about Les on this call is off-base. If we'd run the ball and gotten stuffed, after running and getting stuffed all nite, there'd be even more hostility.
