Well, then it was working and should be commended.

I'm leaving today to beat the traffic. Halftime leavers, you just got one upped.

I live in College Station but am from Baton Rouge so I try and catch one LSU home game a year. It is baffling how BR can not handle the traffic. It seems the more they try and fix it the worse it gets. My brother in New Orleans gave up his season tickets strictly because of traffic hassles.

A&M has NO INTERSTATE system and 90% of the 100,000 fans stay until the last play and I am home in 30 minutes or less 10 miles away. It is so organized it is unreal.

To be fair, Highway 6 is interstate-grade.

I thought it was because the pedestrians walking to their cars and crossing nicholson were holding up traffic. That, and cars trying to merge into traffic straight off Nicholson.

Yep. You have Stanford, College, Dalrymple, Nicholson, Burbank, Highland, Perkins, etc. It shouldn't be that hard to get everyone out in a somewhat timely manner. Nothing pissed me off more last year than getting to Perkins and having the red lights going through their normal cycles.

I understand that there will be traffic, but I'm still struggling to see how complicated it would be to make Burbank 3 lanes out of campus, with the "left" lane forcing you left onto Staring, the middle lane forcing you onto bluebonnet, and then the right lane forcing you to merge with siegen/highland

Nicholson could easily be two lanes out with localized left and right turns at Brightside and Gardere with the contraflow left lane forcing a turn onto bluebonnet and the remainder heading towards iberville parish.

I will bever understand how the hell the largest city in LA and home of a major University cannot figure this crap out. It is a true mystery to me.

I'm with you. I went to both Jerry's World games and the game in Houston. Those guys have traffic flow down ... I'm saying better than rush hour down.

In all honesty the people in charge of traffic around the LSU area don't try, they don't plan, they don't think every possible solution through.

It irks me how they take a last minute approach to everything and are able to get off the hook.

- contraflow EVERYTHING
- extend the coverage of police at intersections further out from campus

The goal should be to get the most people possible away from campus. They make it way harder than it should be by trying to accommodate too many folks. If you live near campus you need to plan accordingly.

It is honestly a tough task to plan around BR's infrastructure.

I remember when I lived in Plantation Trace in the late 90s and Highland would be contraflow all the way to Siegen. College was contraflow all the way to I-10. If you didn't come down Highland from campus in the left lane you were fricked. We'd park in the Winn Dixie parking lot and just go get our cars in the morning. Every game we'd walk by Cane's pick up a box with 6 fingers (Todd) for under $5 and then watch everyone get pissed in traffic while we drank on the balcony.

I guess that's the hard part to grasp. These people know they live around campus and traffic is going to suck on game days. Just contraflow the whole fricking campus to I-10 for 1 hour after games and be done with it.

A proper budget would allow for more police officers to be stationed at discharging intersections and as we've all thrown out in this thread "keep flow going".

The problem is contraflow would work for the 0.25 miles off campus and people would run into intersections where the lights were acting normal...

Aka letting 25 cars go in a cycle when the demand is 200+, it may not seem like much but it makes a lot of difference.
