I was at LSU when it was built. The knock then was the architecture. It did not blend at all with the rest of the campus in any way. Same thing with the student union.
The practice facility and dressing area really sucked as well.
From a spectators point, it was a nice place to view a game.

I wish seats were a little closer to the court...but I know we can't be Duke.
Solid venue, but looks out of place. That said, I like it.

They could do a renovation of the outside and transform it to either the Roman Coliseum look (to match TS) or Italian Renaissance (to match campus).
Either way would be legit.

Why don't they put some lighting in it, dark arenas confuse me, especially for TV...

noticed that it varies from section to section. It's weird. I was fine tonight.
True
Im 6'3" before the renovation everything was fine now its a crapshoot on where I am sitting for a game if my legs will fit in front of me. Its like some rows werent installed right

I think they need to install glass doors around the arena and replace the solid wood doors. That would allow some light from the concourse inside.

A lot better than the Cow Palace. Its a shame we all had to watch Pete play there. But what a time!!

Don't like that it doesn't match the rest of campus but I wish they would do two things:
- move the seating closer to the court. I hate the floor level aisle around the entire thing.
- paint the exterior roof. It's faded white and mildewing

That's what I said by the circular configuration. I like arenas that are rectangular. The seats are much closer. And I think it simply looks better.

They can still do this with a circular arena.

It would look weird. Rectangular is way better.

Kind of like the old Gym-Armory, huh!

I am a fan of the PMAC as an arena, think it is bery nice and as others have said could have some things done to it, but as a whole very nice place.
Compared to some of the SEC/football school arenas it is very nice! I am in dosagreement, I do not think the rectangular to circular means anything at all. Yes the seats could be closer, but still dont think that is a huge factor. I think it is one of those places you go to a game and leave with the same reaction you left with it was okay definately would ome back if it was a good basketball matchup, but certainly not a place you have to see a game in, which is the way LSU and even some fans wanna keep it.
To me LSU basketball gets a huge knock against it, I personally love basketball and LSU has a rich tradition and history for a school that doesnt care that much for the sport. Routinely on lists for NBA players, all time greats, statistical records. Many people dont know even LSU fans, I know it has been talked about the starting 5 of-
PG Jackson
SG Maravich
SF Macklin
PF Petit
C O'Neal
I would put these 5 in their prime together against any other university's 5 end of discussion!

I wish it's exterior would have been modeled to resemble the cow palace.

Off-topic I know, but Rudy Macklin sits at the end of our row, and is at virtually every game.
Dale Brown is there for most games too, when he's not on the road doing public speaking.
My husband also.
Nice to see that some ex-team members still support the team, even though they cram themselves into their seats. (Not Dale of course).

WTF!? Totally different structure, how would this even be considered?
Anyway, this (PMAC) was designed in the late 60's, thus the futureistic (spaceship) look for the time which was similar to MB SDome. I still like it.

Could not agree more! This would help tremendously as well as "connect" the concourse area with the inside of the arena a bit more.
Do they actually have to have doors at all though? The New Orleans Arena has just open path ways going from the concourse to the inside.
Also, clean the roof. I'm ok with it being white, but its extremely dirty right now. Like the Superdome gets after a while so they pressure wash it.

I think I recall someone posting a photoshop of that on here once. Looked pretty badass.
