Maybe it's a weaker line for Mizzou but I don't think so. Those boys whipped arse at the line of scrimmage. They rotated a lot. Mizzou game planned all around stopping Key and the other boys destroyed them. Coach O was very high on Jenkins coming in. It seems to have made a difference so far.

My passion has always been defense - that is why I loved the 2011 team so much.

Pete Jenkins is such an old man to be the face of the defense - but Coach Eaux said Pete was the first one he called after being named interim coach. Seems like a new defensive coach would need more time than that to refocus the defense but maybe he is really a genius.

Hoping he lives another 20 years.

I think if O is tabbed as the full time head man, we see Pete take a part time roll as an operations guy. I don't think he wants to get back into full time coaching. He would be great though as part of a expanding staff like Bama has created.

Pete Jenkins is a superstar, but:

1) the defense has been good and getting better each week

2) the Time of Possession 'script was flipped'

3) less practice time on the field, more film study means better prepared and fresher legs.

film study with Jenkins is probably a huge reason we will see this Dline continue to eat. They get to have a guided study with a legend.

BUT They only got 2 sacks!

Kidding, D-line looked solid all game. They never let the Mizzou QB get settled in. Constant pressure and multiple knock downs.

I think Missou had only give up one or two sacks on the season. They focus on getting the ball out fast, and don't give you much of a shot at the QB. Pretty awesome that we got there twice and a credit to our DBs for forcing their him to hold the ball.

Understand that Pete Jenkins has created a system of D-line play. Watch d-linemen when they attack the offensive LOS. Coach Jenkins has taught a technique that is the MO for defensive linemen. He's truly one of the greatest d-line coaches ever...

I watched a video of the team walking down the hill and you could hear Orgeron say, "Where's Pete?" a few times. You could tell that O has a ton of respect for him and as long as he has a say, Pete Jenkins will be around the program.

I liked that one pressure where we only rushed 4 and they all essentially pushed their blockers into or adjacent to the QB. He got the ball out, but the damage was done.

That was the DLU of old.

I don't know if they had given up a sack. I thought I heard he had only been hit a couple of times before our game.

he coached for a while at AU back in day, and a 75 year old pete jenkins is better than a 50 year old "anybody else".....quite possibly the best DL COACH THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN

They had only given up 1 sack and QB was only hit twice prior to the LSU game. VERY impressed with the defense against the uptempo quick passing game. They're really starting to peak. The db's looked like a whole new squad out there. Man-to-man in your face lockdown style. I like it.

Jenkins probably didn't change that much this week but having your position coach who you love promoted to head coach on a team that can't score points has gotta make you inspired to play harder. The fact that we put up 42 helped too because they could rest more.
