I think he is just overly aggressive sometimes. I think he is a good tackler and he is VERY strong for a corner.
+1 on Nugget's summary.
PP is huge and very strong for a corner. And he tackles fine-- I don't recall anybody breaking through his tackles (not to say he hasn't missed a tackle, but once he solidly gets his hands on a player, I don't remember anybody really breaking through his tackle, unlike a couple other players.)
If he has a weakness, it would be that he plays aggressive, so gets burned once in a while. But I really, really don't consider that a weakness. I would much rather him play aggressive and shut down his man the majority of the time and make one or two mistakes, but compensate by making one or two spectacular plays than having him play safe and letting the opponent chip away at him all game but never giving up a 'big' play. With his talent, I'm comfortable to live and die by the sword. I wouldn't for one moment consider suggesting that he play less aggressive.
... and maybe... maybe you could say another weakness is cramps
edit to add: every corner gets beat sometime, even the greatest: Deion Sanders, Champ Bailey, Darrell Green, Rod Woodson... you name it, every one of these guys has been beat for touchdowns, missed interceptions and tackles, etc. Every great recent LSU cornerback: Chevis Jackson, Corey Webster, etc. have all given up more big plays than PP, but aren't criticized for it as much as PP. I don't see any weakness in his game.

Well, I am no NFL talent scout but from Pee Wee football on up, a player is taught to wrap up the runners legs for his best chance of getting a man down. What I saw this season was he was the only one that seemed to get that concept on this defense. Everyone else seemed content just to hit someone hard and assume that would knock them down. From what I understand to be fundamentals, very few players at this level I have seen have the fundamentals of PP. I won't argue that he needs some strength but remember how young he is. He is continously getting stronger working with Moffitt every offseason. He will be ready for the pros whenever he decides to go. And as long as he isn't playing in ankle deep mud, he can cover and shut down any receiver out there.

A friend of mine, talking abt PPs draft stock said this: PP's weakness are his lack of strength and his poor tackling.
as the great Neon Deion says "a great corner's shoulders aren't made for tackling they're made for suits"

absolute BS--he talked tebow one and one and brought him down and many others-- he is a great player and will be like the star on the jets before he is done-- come on

I would no longer be friends with that person.

Patrick Peterson is not strong and can not tackle
not only that, he can't keep his feet inbounds!!!

He also will take chances and get burned.
This was my only complaint with Peterson this year. This happened a couple times if I recall.
That said, it's good and bad, because sometimes it pays off.

Tell your friend to walk up to PP and discuss this with him. Should work out just fine

Yep, as I said in my own post, with PP I am willing to live by the sword and die by it. I wouldn't tell him to be less aggressive.
It's similar to an aggressive defense that blitzes a lot (something near and dear to many people here)-- it's an aggressive way to play that gets you burned sometimes, but if done well, can work outstandlingly well.
And, again, every cornerback gets burned. Deion Sanders, Darrell Green, all of them. This year, the damned offense scored so little that every touchdown by the other team seemed tragically memorable, but Peterson certainly wasn't burned much.

Tell your friend to watch the Washington game again. He must have missed that one.
9 solo tackles (4 more than anyone else on the team), 2 passes broken up, 1 fumble recovered
Peterson is one of the best tacklers, if not the best, on the team.

Your friend must be a snivelling whining democrat who knows NOTHING about football (or defense, or strength....you know...typical democrat traits).

For people saying that PP gets burned due to playing aggressive: You can maybe count the times he was burned this season on two hands. Every corner gets burned sometimes, but the fact is PP kept us in the Bama and FLA games, his pick six at State may have made the difference, and I think LSU doesnt beat UGA unless PP keeps AJ Green in check for almost the entire game.
Every player has negatives, but PP is our best overall player...hands down. Focus criticism on other positions.

No.
The vocal majority of the LSU fanbase is not happy unless they can wake up and bite into a shite sandwich every morning.
With the recent successes yesterday on signing day, some people need to find SOMETHING to shite on. Even if it is something ridiculous, like bagging on PP.
