Who cares if anything has changed if it works?

because historically it doesn't work

hence why only 1 team in the BCS era has won a title with sub-2500 yards passing (and they were at 2425)

And imagine how much deadlier LF would be with just a competent, not even good, passing game.

the last was bama, correct?

But you're not going to compare Ingram to Bo or Hershel are you? We're talking about those once in 50 years type back. LF being one of those.

yeah don't forget 04/05 USC with Reggie Bush

the last heisman winner at RB who won a title was mark ingram. Bama passed for 187.9 yards/game that year (and over the magical 2500 yard marker)

the comment was about teams winning titles with heisman RBs

the last was bama, in 2009. and they passed for more than double what we are doing

he's probably the best back of the BCS era, but Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush have arguments (and hardware)

Not saying we're going to win a title this year, but did any of those BCS champs have a Bo or Hershel? I mean it's hard to make comparisons because they come around so rarely.

Yeah, I know there have been others, but no one is comparing LF to Reggie Bush

Everyone keeps throwing out the Bo/Herschel/AP comparisons.

OP conveniently omitted AP from his comparison thread

Those are much better passing numbers than we are capable of.

No the original post was about Bo/Hershel and their qb's. Not "mere" Heisman winners. There have been back win the Heisman that weren't in the category of those 2.

2004 USC had Reggie Bush, but 2005 was when he went into the danger zone (8.7 ypc and almost 500 yards passing while splitting time with white)

USC was very balanced and deep in 04/05

OU lost the 04 title to that USC team when they had a guy named adrian peterson dominating as a true freshman

I didn't take it that way. I took it as history shows you can go a long way with little passing and a once in 50 years type back. Now, that said, I'd be more comfortable with a better passing attack.

how?

hell OU didn't even win a title with a "once in 50 year" back AND a passing game in 2004. same with USC the next year

I feel like the biggest change in 30 years is the evolution of the running quarterback.

THAT my friend IS coaching. That is why Miles ALWAYS loses games he has NO business losing. He LOST to Kentucky and Arkansas when he backed into the championship game.

Miles has lost 29 games in an 11-ish year career at LSU.
5 of those came in a year after we were gouged of talent following a NC.
5 of those came in a year after we were gouged of talent following the '13-'14 NFL Drafts.
4 of those came against Alabama and Nick Saban in seasons other than those mentioned.
2 of those came against Florida and Urban Meyer in seasons other than those mentioned.

In his remaining 8 years and 4 games, against teams not already mentioned, Miles is 107-13...

Nice. The early NFL departures really hit LSU. But the passing is still inexcusable
