How does this historic UGA moment give us insight into LSU's terribly one-dimensional offensive game plan?????!?!?!

Its one pass.

I was agreeing with a poster about the ability to pass when needed. Without that pass, Georgia doesn't accomplish most of what they did in 1980. So, Herschel aside, you still need it.

You can't win like that now. We don't have a defense that will hold opponents to 11 points per game.

If we just got 2011 AJ McCarron play with good WRs, and a dominant defense, we could kill, instead, we don't have anything close. We are giving up around 21.5 points per game, and we have yet to face a team in the top 40, let alone top 25, in scoring offense. We are averaging 95.5 passing yards on 53.2% completion, and we have yet to face a legit pass defense or legit pass rush. WRs are playing like poo too.

not really

spread, hurry up, officiating now leaned heavily to offense instead of defense?

In 2008, 34 teams totaled 400 or more offensive yards per game. In 2014, that went to 66.

In 2008, 24 teams averaged at least 6 yards per play. In 2014, that went to 41.

In 2008, 5 teams ran at least 1000 plays in the season. In 2014, 21 teams ran at least 1000 plays.

As a matter of fact, 35 teams ran 900 plays in 2008, but that number was 70 in 2014. Twice as many!

A lot has changed in the past seven years, let alone the past 35.

Feel like the game has evolved a little bit in 35 years.

Agreed but talent sometimes dictate going backwards. Miles is already an old school corch so this move is obvious.

LSU, please prove us wrong and show us we can ride the coat tails of #7 all season long.

But you're not going to compare Ingram to Bo or Hershel are you? We're talking about those once in 50 years type back. LF being one of those.

Elliott had 3 straight 220 plus 2 plus TD performances in the post season last year, but Cardele also averaged 61% 251 yards 9.8 ypa and 2 TDs per game over that span as well.

Not saying we're going to win a title this year, but did any of those BCS champs have a Bo or Hershel? I mean it's hard to make comparisons because they come around so rarely.

Herschel averaged 146 yards per game and 1.36 TDs per game in 80

Bo averaged 110 yards per game and 1.09 TDs per game in 83

Does anybody think that shite will work in 2015? Especially for this LSU team? Auburn held opponents to 15.5 ppg, UGA 11.4 ppg. We have yet to hold anybody below 19! We haven't even played a good offense yet.

I didn't take it that way. I took it as history shows you can go a long way with little passing and a once in 50 years type back. Now, that said, I'd be more comfortable with a better passing attack.

You can't anymore though. Add that was also because they played great defense as well.

Great post.

23-1, averaging 91 yards, 12.5 attempts, and 6.5 completions per game. Can you imagine the 8 and 9 man boxes they were running against?!? How the hell did they do it???

Are you seriously trying to contend for most downvotes per post? Have you ever made a post that wasn't widely regarded as dumb?
