Oregons offense looked out of sync in their spring game... Werethe teams split or did the first o play together?

They were split up. Oregon's olines in that game were not unit 1 and unit 2 but some 1's, 2's and walkons.

Makes sence then.

Offenses somewhat comparable to yours have run through us the last few years. Just my two cents but I think those days are over. Who knows, maybe you score 60.

I doubt we go for a lot of points unless the oline really gels. There is good individual talent but the pulling schemes and timing are tough.

So you are saying your OL next year will be as good as last year's OL in your first game?

No sale. You'll probably be good as the year goes on, but this thread is about the first game of the year.

Some great comments by LSU fans. I can tell some guys know their football.
As side news, just saw some new polls. "The 25 Toughest Stadiums in the Country" and LSU came in 9th, Oregon came in 1st. They say LSU used to be more intimidating but not as much these days. Bleacher Report 25 Toughest Stadiums in the country

And this site has Oregon preseason ranked #1 and LSU #6 preseason rankings site 1
This site has Oregon ranked #3 and LSU #5. pre season rankings site #2

And lastly, again the Bleacher Report has the Oregon vs LSU game as the #1 ranked OC game of the year. They said, "This is what college football is all about.
A Week 1 showdown that could knock one of the top teams out of BCS title contention to start off the season.
Oregon features one of the smoothest offenses in football history led by quarterback Darron Thomas and running back LaMichael James.
Both are Heisman contenders and key reasons why most people see the Ducks repeating as Pac 12 champions this season.
LSU is different from Oregon because they win games by punishing teams on defense. Under head coach Les Miles, the Tigers always have one of the toughest defensive units in the nation.
So in the matchup against the unstoppable offense and the impenetrable defense, who will win?
I feel that this game will live up to all the hype.
Being played at the Cowboys stadium in Arlington, the media surrounding this will be like a BCS game.
I believe Oregon will inch this one out and beat LSU with their overwhelming speed on offense.
They are calling for Oregon 28 LSU 27. UO vs LSU Top #1 OC game of the year

I think this game will have the feeling of a BCS title game to it. And I bet it will be crazy in Dallas on that day. I expect a epic slugfest. Any team really could win this but we shall see. If I were betting I would make UO a 2 point underdog only because of all the extra LSU fans that will be there, making it a virtual home game for LSU. But many Ducks will still show up and that place will be electric! I cannot wait.

and what does a "toughest stadium" ranking have to do with a neutral site game?

and what does a "toughest stadium" ranking have to do with a neutral site game?
...................................

Has nothing to do with a neutral site game such as ours in Dallas. I only pasted it for two reasons. A) I found it odd that LSU was ranked so low given that reputation of death valley. B)It shows that not all good football is played in the South. If you ask me, there seems to be TONS of overlooking the PAC 10 from the south and that is hilarious. We got the same treatment before we played Tenn last year from SEC guys. They all raved how we would be cut in half, our QB's would be injured, how the SEC was the NFL, how week the PAC was and how the SEC had so much speed over us. But then we set a Neyland Stadium record for most lopsided defeat over Tenn at that place. Granted, LSU has a long history of being ready for early OC game play, no doubt. But if anyone hear thinks Oregon will be easy to push around, they have not watched any football. If you want laughs, check out this Tenn fans comments. Is this a typical SEC fanboy? We out West think he reflects the masses in the South but I do not know LSU fans, so perhaps they have more smarts. I was at that game and all I heard was, "this is SEC football", by Tenn fans. But as soon as we started thrashing them, all their fans left the stadium and at the end of the game it was only Duck fans(in their own house). Indeed by chance you might win this game coming up(as may we) but do not pretend that our League is in the woman's division of college football. Many LSU posters on here have watched much football and they know to beat us will not be a easy task. But for others, to pretend UO is not even close to your level is pathetic. Both teams are very good, and it will be a awesome game!

1) time will tell
2) OC rarely install their offense their first year. Unless they go from one style to another or other drastic changes.
3) new kicker , punter, returnees, and ST coach ....so special teams.

quote:

For UO, the Defense will be even better then last year- who was the only team able to stop Cam. The D looses tons of players, but after playing 22 guys in rotation last year much experience is not lacking. The D should be even better in 2011

Quit reading here. You lost leadership and lots of it. Idc who you return, rotated, or bring in leadership is much harder to replace. Your lines are new and pretty puny compared to our own. You lost your greatest leader in Mathews, and his play is what kept you in the NC game.

I thought we would be ready for nc last year in the opener and we played awful! Les miles is amazing in bowl games but season openers not so much. This will he an amazing game. We will run the ball to set up some play action passing and I think we will be able to stop the duck running game and exact some revenge on seastrunk who was paid to attend Oregon.

We had the third string defense in by that point. The offensive woes of the second half are inexcusable, but garys gone now baby! Smashmouth football works wonders when paired with a top notch defense.

How many times do I have to remind Tiger fans that our line are not small. There is nothing small about a 321 pound nose tackle and a 6'2" 295 DT. Likewise, Our offensive tackles go 325 and 302. Our guards average around 292 but they pull in our scheme. I know, I know the center weighs 260 because that is what the roster says. The roster also has Anthony Anderson at 210 as a DT and Terrell Turner as a LB at 273. One of our gripes as Duck Fans is that the AD never posts accurate weights and heights.

Last year the Ducks did use a couple of guys in the middle at 275 on defense. Likewise, the olines do have a dificult time towards the end of the season keeping their weight up because of the pace of the offense. It will be interesting to see what happens after the linemen of LSU have to run so many 110 in a certain time.

Link? Oh....I wouldn't be touching the issue of paid players btw. Doesn't make sense considering we have been accused of wrongdoing as well. Two cents.....

Seastrunk will be lucky to get 5 carries. He dances around too much.

Look man, I'm an Oregon and Pac 10/12 homer like you, but let's not seriously compare the two conferences. We don't have much (currently) outside of Oregon and Stanford. Traditional powerhouses Southern Cal and Washington have taken a drop recently. The SEC has Florida, Bama, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, and even South Carolina is trying to get up in the mix. I went to Knoxville and enjoyed the thrashing with the rest of the Duck fans, but you gotta remember that Tennessee was a bad football team last year...this isn't the Tennessee of the '90s.

When did I compare the two conferences in this thread? I do remember saying in another thread that the gap between the two isn't as big as most SEC fans want to admit.

Then so be it

If LSU performs the way they usually do in big games when they have time to prepare then they could very well put up 35

Freak is the same kid that hasn't even joined the team let alone play a snap of FBS football? Btw, the article is using the weight listed on the AD's website. Grasu is probably 278 but he is a still in his redshirt frosh season and by all accounts of those watching spring practice, Armstrong is not 260 pounds - most put him at the same weight as Grasu. In any case, expect them to come into fall camp heavier.
