The rub of the game is what makes it great.. Any one good pitching performance against to go along with a few "right atem" balls and we can be beat by anyone in the field . The fact that you must lose twice is what gives us a decided edge over 85% of the field. "Good Baseball Fortune" will be required by whomever wins it all. Go Good Guys

ERA - 11th in Nation, SEC Leader

Jesse Stallings, 1.84 ERA, 12 Saves
Hunter Newman, 30.1 IP, 0.59 ERA, 28 K, 4 SV
Parker Bugg, 32 IP, 1.97 ERA, 31 K, SV
Zac Person, 26.2 IP, 2.70 ERA, 30 K

Nah, you're right, we only have one good pitcher.

I think we're better equipped if we end up in deep postseason water as well. Newman, Reynolds, Cartwright, Norman and Godfrey can all provide long relief or a spot start if necessary.

Its not likely that they'll pitch at an elite level, but its not like we have a lack of pitching depth. Stack most any pitching staff in the nation against ours man-for-man and we'll come out looking pretty good.

Letdowns happen and that's always a possibility. But this team is pretty well-positioned to go deep in the postseason. They won the SEC for a reason.

Plus, worrying about a letdown is a terrible way to enjoy the baseball postseason, which I always find to be pretty fun and interesting.

You do realize stallings isn't same guy he was early on? He hasnt been reliable since the end of March. Correlate that with the weather warming up. Hard to hit 93-95 over the plate when it's cold. But same misses he was getting away with early on because of velocity are getting tattooed. I don't care how hard you throw if you can't locate. We have 3 possibly 4 arms out pen that are reliable. Person bugg newman and possibly Reynolds. He's really coming into his own. Outside of that it's a crapshoot our pen is extremely thin. We would have been ok if latz could have pitched. Bain would have been extremely valuable out the pen. Hopefully our depth doesn't bite us we must stay out losers bracket.

If there was this mythical team that had 2 1st round pitchers, wouldn't that team be ranked #1?

Vandy has two that will go first round this June so the answer is not necessarily so. They are beatable, as proven by the fact they finished second to LSU.

I wanna say that UCLA team batted somewhere around .240. With their pitching they won a lot of 1-0, 2-1 games that year.

This is why many people say they might be the best team right now. Their pitching is top notch, and they can score 5-7 runs consistently.

What I see when I look big picture for UCLA is they're 4-5 against Top 25 RPI teams.

0-1 #12 Vandy
0-1 # 4 TCU
2-2 #24 USC
2-1 #25 North Carolina

All of these game except for three against USC were early in the season, so it doesn't mean much. But it did happen.

Yes, I always feel ???? Seems like whenever I'm confident of a win, I get shot down. I like being pleasantly surprised, just feels better.

It seems the vast majority do not have the same feels as you. But I bet you will be the first to come back and bump your thread or say "I told you so" if LSU doesn't win the whole thing.

Although I don't agree 100% with the OP, he does voice some concerns for this team. I don't think LSU is overrated as the #1 team in the country, I just think this is not a top heavy year overall as in years past. Any one of the top 20 teams could win it all this year.

you are correct, just trying to show my disappointment with this thread.

Actually LSU baseball fans are some of the best in the country. Most of these melters are bandwagon football fans who think every team should win every game, even for a sport like baseball.
